Interesting that Roger and Barbara apparently didn't get along well. I think that The Spy Who Loved Me is the best of the Roger Moore Bond movies. Maybe that tension is part of the reason that movie works so well. For those who don't remember, in the movie Bond was responsible for the death of Triple X's (played by Bach) lover. The script called for a fair amount of tension between them because of that.

And I get the strangest looks at 26 when I am asked for mine and I say “Roger Moore every time.” His stretch may have had its cringy moments, but the balance of comedy and action Roger could do was and still is my favorite. When he did the television series the Saint he was the highest paid actor receiving £1000:00 Pounds per episode. A staggering amount in the early sixties. Also he was given a blank cheque by the producers so he could choose the car he used in the series. Most expected him to go for a very British Jaguar or an Aston Martin, but he chose the Volvo P1800S. Great car and i used to own one.
@skylongskylong19823 жыл бұрын
The real story is that when they produced the first Saint series in 1962, the producers approached Jaguar, so their E Type Jaguar would be the Saints car. They were not interested, but Volvo approached the producers, and provided two P 1800 road cars, and cut away car they could use for studio filming. On top of that Roger Moore was given a band new P 1800 every year from 1962 till 1969. Also you may also notice that each time Volvo up dated the P1800 a new updated version appeared in the series. When Jaguar heard that the Return Of The Saint was being made in 1977, they provided not only three new XJS , but mechanics. This info from The Saint Fan Club, on line. If you are a keen SAINT Fan, look up The Retirement Report, they post at least two episodes a week.
