He looked of his age at the time. People generally looked older back then due to the way they dressed, diets, smoking habits etc. He looked like a 44 year old of the 70s. Maybe even a bit younger. I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond in the 70s and 80s. The spy who loved me,Moonraker,For your eyes only,Octopussy with the mesmerizing opening song themes,great childhood memories.Rogers Bond movies were entertaining with humor,gadgets etc he was every boys idol back then.

The thing I remember about Roger was how quick he was. We were having dinner with a friend whose girlfriend was Russian. But she then mentioned that her father was Russian admiral. Roger , without missing a beat, said “ Quite a butterfly then”. It was a few seconds before we got it....

My aunt did! When Roger was very young. My aunt and her friend won a competition in England and part of the prize was lunch at one of the studios with him I have a photo of the three of them together with a large cheque, don't know what that was for. I was about 16 and I remember being very jealous as I was a huge fan of Roger as The Saint. Long before his fame as Bond.

I remember that fare war in the summer of '92. I was working at American Airlines that year and it was Northwest (which we don't have anymore) who started the fare war when they had their "Adults fly free with one child" promo. Calls were coming in 24/7 one after the other at the reservation centers. One victim of that fare war was that Braniff Airlines III went out of business after just one year of operations.

You expect a bad ass lead actor like a James Bond to be a little more serious and guarded. Roger Moore was hardly that. Carefree, whimsical even. Generous and self effacing. Shows what a good actor he really was. I always thought Sean Connery was the best partly because he was the first. But Roger Moore made a great Bond as well. Funny and ironic. Brought a new dimension to the character. Loved seeing Moonraker at the theater as a kid. Obviously a wonderful man.
