Actually he was a sneaky rat who got his position through betrayal and blackmail. He in the end he was the managing partner. Not my favourite character in the beginning but he had one of the best character developments in the show. He was not likeable in the beginning but he was a great loyal friend in the end.

In a way, "Suits" is a story about the redemption of Louis Litt. He's the first of the main cast to show up in the very first scene of the first episode. And the show takes him from being a scared, emotionally scarred, traitorous bully grabbing for power to being an emotionally healed man and beloved managing partner of the firm who has all of his dreams come true.
