Man, i love these videos. With this one, i was able to share a 70 year old memory with my wife of my parents taking myself and my 3 sisters down to the Manasquan Inlet/beach and then my father taking me with him to fish off the jetty, perhaps those same rocks. In later years i'd park on the Point Pleasant side of the Inlet and watch the submarine races with a g/f. Ahh, such great memories.

@grahambarton19422 жыл бұрын
Yep he’s riding in down the front of the wave(bad idea) and then throttles down so it catches him. Suddenly the wave is moving water forward as fast as his rudder is moving, so it stops working. So he loses control and swings side on to it. It could have rolled his boat over if the wave was bigger.

I have run this in a 40’ sailboat a couple of times. Once at night. It is one of the reasons I now own a cruising trawler capable of running from NY to Cape May in one shot. Haulover has nothing on Manasquan.
@jbj274063 жыл бұрын
Agreed on the Haulover thing. They've got nothing on this inlet. (And we didn't have to listen to that broncos guru guy the whole time--a little goes a long way).
@brandonseyfried12512 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I grew up in Point Pleasant. For years my dad was lifeguard captain for Jenkinson's, right there at the Inlet. The big difference between here and Haulover is the obvious amount of caution shown by the captains, as well as a much more modest fleet. Manasquan Inlet is very, very unforgiving. My dad has told of numerous people that have drowned just falling off the jetty and not being able to climb back out before getting beaten up on the rock faces. Great quality video. Glad I found it, and can "go home" for just a little while.
@erichammond93082 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree! Any inlet that is assigned a Motor Life Boat station makes Haulover look tame! There's a reason why you never see big SF yachts on those channels - they'd ruin their "rough inlet" claim! That big Bayliss would blow through Haulover without batting an eyelash.
