Mehdi hasan is undoubtfully the best singer in the world. he is just extra ordinary ! the composition is so difficult , that no one can even try to attempt ! i dont think any other singer is even close to him ! i am lucky to meet him at my own place and that too because of my dad when he is was in india ! all i get is tears when i listen to him ! music is so powerful :)

Classic song gives and shows us a voice and grammar capacity for song but he consulted a new asset with the classic. It is emotion. This classic takes us to the past of Romantic thought. How nice an experience it to have listened to it in a single sitting ! I had cast a web around me and kept me captivated throughout the entire rendition ! Such was the domineering effect of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab's gayiki ! No epithet is sufficient to describe this enormous talent ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was a phenomenal singer and infact, he himself was a phenomenon ! He had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal which will be difficult to surpass ! The great Khan Saab was the ULTIMATE in Ghazal Gayiki ! To be very true, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the Ghazal Sensation Of the Century and Beyond ! Professionalism, Perfection and Sophistication in performance was the hallmark of the great Khan Saab ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab had single-handedly revived ghazal gayiki as a Classical Music Form and had catapulted it into the present level of its much wider acceptance across the globe ! He had revolutionized the traditional style of gayiki gayiki and was instrumental in bringing in a paradigm shift in its gayiki by applying his midas touch making it more soft, refined, soothing, soulful, lively,lyrical and worth-listening again and again without getting bored ! The style of gayiki of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was so simple, effortless but overbearing and very difficult to emulate ! Besides, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had something so special in his voice ! The great Latajee, who held the great Mehdi Hassan Saab in very high esteem, used to say -- " GOD resides in the voice of Mehdi Hassan Saab !" Perhaps, a living legend (Latajee) could only realize the greatness of a legend in his lifetime (Mehdi Hassan Saab) ! Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Saab was absolutely right in his assessment that no one else could ever compete with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab in so far as his control over Sur is concerned !The illustrious career of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab spanning over almost six decades speaks volumes about his abilities as a multidimensional singer proving his worth in every aspect of Hindustani Classical Music -- be it Khayal, Thumri, Ghazal, or playback singing in films ! SUBLIME ! SERENE ! SOOTHING! SOULFUL ! AND WHAT NOT! He was just IRRESISTIBLE ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was, infact, Back, Beethoven and Mozart rolled into one ! To be very precise, he was just 'INFALLIBLE' as a musician and therefore, beyond the reach of us -- 'FALLIBLES' ! He was, indeed, a big 'JIGSAW PUZZLE' as a musician, whose mystery is yet to be unravelled completely !
