The transformation might be affecting his brain. He may have limited capacity, but he understands emotions clearly. He knows his bro needs to stay in the bed, and which button keeps him safe. His part of the robot is deeply childish to keep him soothed, and he was given the choice about it's contents, bexuase he can express himself clearly.
