Best of Olesya Novikova - New Principal of Mariinsky!

Olesya Novikova is a Russian ballet dancer. She is a the newest principal dancer with the Mariinsky Theatre.
She was born in Saint Petersburg and studied at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. Upon graduation, she joined the Mariinsky Theatre.
She is married to Leonid Sarafanov.
In 2021, Novikova was promoted to the rank of Principal dancer of the Mariinsky Theater.

I’m so glad she exist and a gifted smart men and women in Mariinsky noticed her talent early enough so we could see her Giselle, Aurora, Odette/Odile, her Kitri/Dulcinea, her Raymonda (my favorite!) and so much more! She’s a joy to watch, her artistry and grace make ballet look so effortless and beautiful, like this form of art was made for her.

The magic Novikova..she’s not those show off type of dancers. She will not sacrifice the music for showing off her balance or turns. She will not sacrifice body alignment for showing off her extension. Everything is just magical.

Вариация Жизели из первого акта - это спектакль, где ее партнером был такой же юный Матье Ганьо (Mathieu Ganio), еще совсем не этуаль Парижской оперы. Столько лет прошло, а я до сих пор помню этот спектакль. Так же, как и их совместный Дон Кихот.
