I met Ox Baker once and he was really nice. He told me he would train me when I turned 18 but I didn't take him up on it. He did show me how to do the heart punch.

He wasn’t much of a wrestler but damn.. he had a presence about him that was larger than life… Ox, Don Muraco, Dick the Bruiser, Jos LeDuc, Harley, Dick Murdoch were my favorites growing up.

Ox started wrestling at 30 years old in 1964, so he was even older and slower by the time most people remember him. Looked like the sort of big, rough dude where it was safer that he didn't take big bumps or try fancy moves, so a limited wrestler but knew how to work up anticipation for the heart punch, he certainly got heat. And yeah, what a great talker, up there with King Curtis - both very similar actually, in and out of the ring

Watching Al Lerner run for his life was hilarious, the Ox went on to wanting to destroy Dick the Bruiser and Bob Luce too! Talking all that stuff about Sailor Art Thomas was called creating massive heat and Ox Baker was one of the best at it. 👍
