Hit and run drivers, particularly the ones with no insurance, should face mandatory one-year jail terms, huge fines, and be required to pay restitution. Of course in this day and age, IF they are even arrested, they’ll be out of jail in a couple of hours and be given a traffic ticket.

Restitutions, minimum 1 year in jail, and not allowed behind the wheel of a motor vehicle for minimum of 5 years, then have to go through getting a license all over again from the beginning, also must maintain insurance coverage of at least 100k should they ever try to get a license and car again. No insurance alone should have their wages garnished to pay for all the damages when they're caught and put at fault for any accident. None of this rabbit chase nonsense where the victim is forced to be out of pocket for something that wasn't even their fault.

Hit and runs are horrible. Its so satisfying seeing these people get caught. Back in late September, I was on my scooter and when I got to a crosswalk, it turned on saying I could cross. So I got on and started going. At the corner of my eye I saw this big suv turning from around the curb. I freaked out and pulled on my brakes as hard as I could, then they hit the whole front of the scooter, ruining the wheel and big pieces shattered across the street. They almost hit me too. I almost fell down but they didn't even pull over to see if I was ok, they just drove off! It was also during a red light and I saw that people in their cars were looking to see what happened through the windows, but nobody stopped to check on me. I unfortunately did not get the license plate because it all just happened so suddenly and i was focusing on trying to not get hit. After all that happened i was very shaken up and it was so scary but at least I did not get hurt and all I had was a very sore arm. I hope they get their karma and something bad happens to them!

See, if you can get her out of the car, I'd take her goddamn keys and make a citizen's arrest. My Dad says he did that once, back in his bike riding days. Guy was speeding down a curvy road, openly drinking, lane splitting, and almost hit my Dad. Another guy chasing him stopped to check on my Dad and gave him a ride until McDouhe finally lost control and crashed into a parked car at a pulloff observation spot. At which point he spilled out of his car, yelled at the parked car that it was in his way, and started flipping off the families at the observation point who'd come to see what the crash was. By the time my Dad arrived, he was trying to back up his car and flee. So my Dad wrenched the door open, wrestled the car back into park, and confiscated his keys while McDouche WAILED about how he was ruining his life. This was in the 80s, so someone had to run down to an emergency phone and call it in. By the time the cops arrived, he was sobering up and kept trying to pay off the witneesses, until they went to place him in handcuffs, at which point he broke a Sherrif Deputies nose and screamed, "Do you know who I am, you fat worthless pig!" before disappering under a dog pile.
