And there isn't anything wrong with being old - it's part of life, we all get older and old. It doesn't make sense to react on the word "old" as it were an insult.

Wagner made epic movie soundtracks before there were movies. I've never heard any kind of music that could spark the imagination and develop lucid imagery in the mind's eye. Forget about the politics that later surrounded him and yes he was a antisemite ( my least favorite people on Earth) but the fact remains he was an absolute genius. Thank goodness for the film Excalibur for introducing me to him when I was 13 years old.

Wagner's music is not for everyone. His music is unique and takes an open ear and mind to just listen at first. Full orchestra uses all instruments creating such harmonious sounds elevating the mind and spirits.

I really love Wagner. My first listening was Das Rheingold, albeit I had to read a bilingual translation while listening, I guess it's hard to get into Wagner if you don't understand the words. If we're talking about the music, I guess some people might find it too intense.

In 1962 - 63 I visited Wagners grave in Bayreuth Germany. I think Wagner is buried near his old house which is adjacent to the City Cemetery. Composer Franz Liszt is buried in the City Cemetery not far from Wagner. Also from my 2nd floor apartment on Markgraffen Allee I could see the Richard Wagner Festspielhaus in the distance.
