Just to clarify: the very first track in this playlist is actually a tribute to Tchaikovsky by the Russian composer Anton Arensky, who wrote this as a variation on a theme by Tchaikovsky (so yes, this is technically Tchaikovsky, as we hear his melody, but you should mention who actually wrote this arrangement). The melody we hear is from both Tchaikovsky’s choir piece “A Legend” (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jl69qJ2kYpehlaM) and a Song with piano accompaniment with the same title, Op. 54, no. 5 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6nMoImup6yXa5I) Arensky first wrote this variation in his String Quartet no. 2, Op. 35 (second movement): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmO5lp-vmZ18pKcsi=DT24YEIPrLVHY51f&t=662 And later orchestrated this movement for String Orchestra (which we hear in this playlist): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX7Oq4uLot-gatk I am writing this, because I love this music and searched for Tchaikovsky’s “Elegy for String Orchestra in G major” but he wrote an Elegy in G major for string orchestra (the same title), which is a different piece than we hear in this playlist, so I hope this helps 😊 Anyways, great playlist!

It seems to me that Russian composers have a different kind of depth to their music - not to say that it makes it better than say the great German composers - but there is something uniquely fascinating about it. Same goes for Russian culture and mentality in general, I think.

This music 🎶 makes me “see” all Russian fairytales, written by Alexander Pushkin. There are so many classic animations of Pushkin’s fairytales for children that have pieces of Tchaikovsky’s music. ❤❤❤ Soviet kids all grew up on those animations where Good always wins over Evil❤❤❤.

Peter I. Tchaikovsky. Born in Wotinsk, 1840- St. Petersburg, 1893. One of the of all greatest modern Russians. His six symphonies are all importance, the last, the "Pathetlique" being his greatest success. Beautiful chamber -music and many strong overtures. "Romeo and Juliet" overture was the best of these. The biography of his life was frought with his human nature and jealously that surrounded him. One of my all-time favorite composers. Bravo!👏👏 Essential Classics. Leo Tolstoy: War And Peace, Anna Karina, Lift Up Your Eyes. Anton Chekov: The Cherry Orchard, Beginnings(The short story- I, The short story-II, The Steppe Stories, 'Lights' Chekov and Tolstoy 'A Dreary Story, 'The Duel' a note on 'Three Years' Chekov 's women, 'The Party' 'The Lady with the Dog' 'A Women's Kingdom 's " Three Sisters." That was the Russian Empire - Structure, that was designed and employed by Feofan Prokopovych, Rector/President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. And that political space (Empire) was inclued Lytvyn, Kyivan, Novhorod, except of Moscow culture, public and political elite. Nowadays Russia is absolutely different national country against Russian Empire then. By the way, the Russian-Ukraine war is a battle for Kyivan legacy, for internal legitimation.
