It should appear on the Pocket Salsa app as well. Make sure you 'pull to refresh' in the Podcast section of the app and it should there.

I wrote a long blog post on our website. It comes down to the fact that "clave" is the rhythm salsa is based on and all the instruments play relative to the clave beat. The On1 beat you dance to is really the down beat (easy to recognize in hip-hop or rock) but there is no down beat in salsa. The clave has 2 up beats on counts 2 and 6 and that is when you are supposed to break. Breaking on those counts will help match your movements to the musicality of the song. (character limit reached)

Thank you for the kind words. We really appreciate it.

When you dance on1, your "down beat" ends up being the cowbell (depending on the song). But the cow bell is not just a constant hit, it is actually syncopated like the other instruments. If you listen to the 'Cow Bell' or 'Mambo Bell' tracks in Pocket Salsa, you'll listen to "tikki-tock-tikki-tock-tikki-tock--tick-tock' and not just 'tock--tock--tock...etc' which people tend to only notice. The clave has syncopation.

I'm dancing for over 5 years now and I still dance on1 sometimes. For me, dancing on2 "flows" more and I prefer it over on1. Also, some tracks feel better when dancing them on1. In the end it's all about walking of that dance floor at the end of a track with a smile .. :)

KZbin doesn't allow links in comments. I prefer On2, but every person is different. You should enjoy what you dance, regardless of perfect timing.

Thank you man. You are amazing, I also have visited your website, which by the way is awesome. Thanks man once again!

The video actually was released last week for people using the app before it became published on KZbin. Make sure you pull to refresh on the Podcast section of the paid version of the app to receive it. If you have issues with the app, send us an email and we'll be glad to help!

As he said "an advanced dancer should be able to finish it off". When you have trouble at the end. I'd either push her a little bit harder to be more obvious of what you want (you'll remove her confusion and off she goes! ;). Or you could ask for her hand (her right hand) and finish it of with a few inside or outside turns for the lady. Advanced:Go triple turn after you do the backhand drop, since you turn on 7 you can use the momentum to start spinning right away and you stay in the flow! :)

Hey Anthony great pattern! can you please explain why people that dance on 2 say they feel the music more than on 1? I personally dance on 1 but would eventually like to learn on 2, but I am trying to understand why many prefer on 2. I feel the beat just fine on 1, and I know its easier to teach. But it seems all the Pros lean towards on2. Was there a point where something "clicked" for you personally and you said "wow" on2 is better, if so please tell me why? Thanks again for all the vids!!!

MAGISTRAL. Johnny Marte, Santo Domingo D.R.

Part II: Basically I'm just saying that I think its kind of sad that after all the effort that Anthony puts into producing these videos they don't appear on the app. It would be better for both us app-users AND for him...

The move is based on a 'choke hold'-like move and I make a smart ass comment about Christian Grey from the book 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

Ok, so maybe it sounded more negative than I actually meant it to be, sorry. But still: The app COULD be really cool if it worked like this: New video appears (first on app to get Anthony more customers), I decide I want to try this with my dance partner, download it, try it at salsa class. Instead it goes like this: I decide I like a video and want to practice it, it's not on the app, I have a crappy internet connection at our salsa class, I end up not being able to practice it.

When it comes to Salsa Dancing " you must understand a certain area of Africano Dance is mixed. That's why Put Bull and other Cuban Celebrities Dance different. Africans in Cuba brought certain dances to surface. Then Africano'Puerto Ricans mixed the dances of two different Cultures of Dance. So People let's NOT get it twisted

Very early in 1930s we called this a Fast Dance. However many Africano'Puerto Ricans and many African'Cubans brought this dance to United States of America around 1920s. Because of peoples Countrys becoming socialist and communist.. So would come to USA for Freedom. Dezi Arnez was one of those Family's who escaped socialisum and communist in Havana Cuba. Dezi Arnez father was actually the Mayor in Cuba when they had to leave because of socialisum and communist.

You, sir, are a freaking nerd! But a funny one at that. 50 shades of grey choking her! Ha ha ha! I appreciate the sense of humor...let me guess, technical engineering background? Very cool move, btw...although I get the feeling not one to be "tried on" a beginner, or maybe even intermediate, female. One wrong move on her part and it's ouch on her part as well!

This is terrible! I have been dancing salsa since the age of four and these two make it look like work or even worse, like it is not fun! You have to learn the moves, I get it, but this is not math people. The best dancers put a little bit of themselves into it and the way each person dances should be a bit unique just like each person is unique. Show your love for the dance!
