There was the time we were almost scammed. It was myself, father and brother in the car. Brother reverses the car, woman behind us pulls forward, and we bump. (Lucky, Malibu was not damaged lol...) Brother and woman exchange info, then woman calls someone (said it was her husband but we will never truly know). They then ask for money. Real money. Oh mein Gott. Dad refuses, and after they said they'd report to insurance, we go on our way. Malibu is on Dad's policy, and our insurance (foggy on this but) told him they didn't have any...but lucky neither side had to pay for damage.
@solenya24009 күн бұрын
well it is fraud but it is kind of hard to prove. You would think the dashcam counts as definitive proof, but unfortunately not, most of the time they have to chalk it up to really bad drivers. Not to mention some cops would rather not do the paperwork because it's a less "exciting" side of police work.

Keep in mind I have used and abused this camera and live in Arizona where summer days can get up to 120+ degrees Fahrenheit. After the accident I had where the lady decided to go straight from a left turn lane while I proceeded with my left turn and was placed at fault because I didn’t have a dash camera and no witnesses stayed so I definitely recommend getting one.

Where I live- south Florida- it's the most expensive single item on the policy. Around 20 percent or more of cars on Florida roads are uninsured, more in populous areas. If you get pulled over and are uninsured it's up to the officer's discretion whether to have your car impounded or to just write a ticket which ensures that the offender will just keep driving. The law needs to be amended to require that the vehicle is immediately impounded and kept that way until every legal and financial matter is satisfied.

Got into an accident myself. the driver reported on the police report that I jumped into his lane but I was already stopped due to issues with my vehicle. The tow service I called when I first broke down and eyewitnesses confirmed that I was already stopped so he was at fault.

#59 - Since you both ran a red light (turned before either of you entered the intersection), the light issue is void. But the cammer turning left failed to yield after the fact, so he should be responsible.
@punchodex213 күн бұрын
Are you suggesting that cars running red lights have right of way? The left turn guy entered the intersection before it was red, which is legal and he gets to finish his turn. The guy going straight ran a red.

A driver on my right changed lanes into my right front fender in a parking lot. He had AAA and I had USAA. My insurance assessed me 10% responsibility because "I did not anticipate the driver's actions", whaaat? Said I could go to arbitration if I didn't like it. I had $500 deductible and 10% was $50. And I had a dashcam. The other driver at first claimed that I had cut him off. Thank goodness for dash cams.

Number 4 ok let's see here you did a U turn in the middle of the road then instead of waiting for the cammer car to pass you like a normal person you instead floor it across like two lanes, it was clearly your fault ma'am because you are not supposed to do a U turn randomly like that and if you have to do it you better make damn sure it's clear before doing so because you are committing the traffic violation yes the cammer car did fail to stop but also was not expecting you to be there.
@Duetmaster213 күн бұрын
Yes, the lady was a moron for doing a three point turn so close to a major intersection (or for doing one at all, generally). The cammer was also a moron for proceeding when he saw somebody doing something stupid instead of hanging back and being safe. Both things can be true at the same time.

I exited the highway where I lawfully could and was turning into a business. I had the right of way to exit before she did. She illegally crossed the solid white line which is considered a traffic barrier and tried to cut around me. She got a ticket, her insurance paid 15k to fix my truck and after they saw the video I made them pay me 10k to cover loss of use.

When I watched that semi rear end the car stopped for a red light … I got PTSD from someone who rear ended me in 1985 … never even slowed down and I watched it in my rear view mirror because I couldn’t believe they didn’t notice there were 3 cars stopped dead ahead of them. Of course I was the only one to get hit (and HARD) but I was lucky that New York had enacted the first mandatory seat belt law … otherwise I’d have ended up crushed in the back window of the vehicle in front of me or stuck in my own shattered windshield.
