(ALS) Anti lag system. this keeps the turbo at speed at low engine speeds or loads , so there is hardly turbo lag. this is used also with standing starts so that the boost is there. it can be done by severely retarding the ignition and changing the AFR. but there are also systems with bypass valves and actuators.

To me the best turbo sound had to be the one from the that Ford Escort RS 500 and the best Naturally aspirated sound was that Mercedes Benz 250 or 300 ( not sure about the exact model ) Wow , both of them were monsters on their own way !
