Why do people use those walking poles they are ludicrous and nothing more than a marketing ploy

What a pompous reply. Walking poles especially if used in the Nordic fashion exercise the upper body as well as giving balance over rough ground. Walk your own Camino and let others walk theirs.

@@johnhutchison2268 they are not required and serve no purpose, if they did, Sherpas would use them. They damage the ground, they are an unnecessary waste of metal. People should be prosecuted for damaging sensitive areas, put in prison for long periods and made to repair the erosion these pathetic things cause. If you can't do the simple act of walking without a pointless prop, then take up basket weaving or something like that. Sick and tired of these things click clicking along in peaceful landscapes, attached to goons who look pathetic walking with them.
