The Old Rey talk had me thinking once again, is the "payoff" for killing off Luke really worth missing out doing something with him and Rey in the future? Or even just anything with Luke on his own post-Sequels. Rebuilding the Jedi with Rey would have been fun. Luke's death is just meaningless when I think about it. The Force illusion he conjured was a great concept, but we didn't know it would kill him, so it's not like we felt like he was brave for sacrificing his life. His grub era life on the island also means he's not really giving up anything. Feels like he only dies so the movie can be called "The Last Jedi", and so we can all be amazed at our expectations being subverted.

Takes me back to when I was in Afghanistan working with Commandos, One of my buddies decided showing this movie to them was a good idea.
