Fantastic Four has had a terrible cinematic run. And in this compilation we review every single one of them. Fantastic Four 2005, Rise Of The Silver Surfer from 2007 both directed by Tim Story, Josh Trank's Fan4stic from 2015 and the often forgotten but always in or hearts Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four from 1994. Each certainly brought their own unique ideas to the table and I guess if you put all the elements together there's sort of one good movie I guess? Anyways thanks for watching!

It was the only time where (and maybe this is just me), it felt like he was just talking me into a spiral of madness or something? I still think the optimal way to introduce him in the MCU is to have Latveria rise from the ashes of Sokovia. Have Doom take advantage of the political instability and discarded Ultron tech to build up his dictatorship. Throw in a montage at the start of the movie showing his rise to power, set to a speech that ends something like "We will show the world Latveria will not be pushed around like the Sokovia of old! Soon the world will know and fear the name Victor von Doom!"

Because, this is one that just makes doing a podcast sound super easy. Just a couple bros hanging out having fun talking about cool shit! Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer (also Doug Jones as the body) is the only inspired casting in all four of these films. Whether Marvel Studios can make it "fifth time's the charm" for FF, remains to be seen.

I read an interview with an FX production guy wherein he explains that the giant cloud we see at the end of the second film, was simply To disguise Galactus’s real form. This is borne out when you freeze frame the actual sequence on dvd. When Johhny flies into orbit he sees what appears to be a face, though it’s blindingly obscure. One can also see giant metallic cable-like structures within the cloud, presumably the siphons that will plunge into the planet to suck out the energy. It seems the intent was there to feature Galactus at some point, but it got axed by the studio. The ending of the film seems rushed and at odds with what had happened moments earlier

12:32 "But I think this movie wouldn't have necessarily hurt the Marvel brand from coming out. I think it probably wouldn't have been as remembered if there hadn't been this kind of folklore." Is a solid point. Look at the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie, or the Matt Salinger Captain America movies, or the Peter Hooten Doctor Strange. They're out there, they exist, they were broadcast. Sure there most certainly weren't plans to use those characters when those films came out. But since they're not considered "lost" or "shelved", there's very little interest in them.

In retrospect, it's very weird that they took a character that wasn't named Victor von Doom, who eventually became the Silver Surfer, and reshot/redubbed him to be Doctor Doom. The only convective tissue was Sue jokingly referring to him as Dr. Doom *ONCE*.

I feel like one of the road blocks they hit with the FF movies is that the FF are so iconic and influential that almost every other superhero movie/show/comic has adapted those dynamics and tropes already. So by the time the FF movies came around, it all felt a bit redundant (at least in my opinion).

Interesting anecdote (skip to the last paragraph to get to the point relating to the content of this video and the original fantastic four film): Whilst living in Lima, Peru (around the age of 10) i went to see Disney's Pocahontas. At the time (most theatres in the capital have since modernized from my understanding) the movie theatres usually only showed 1-2 films at a time as they consisted of gigantic single cinemas (with an area of a large imax theatre but situated differently). Imagine one giant theatre (with a regular sized screens and roughly triple the amount of rows of a typical 90s US theatre). It was a festival-like atmosphere and adults seemed just as excited as the children to see the film (not that they were interested in the film's content but more excited about the actual event that was going to the movie theatre for these mostly impoverished families). I say all of that to say this, as most theatres only showed 1-2 films at a time, the trailers preceding the film were not aimed at a particular audience and rather just exhibiting what films would be showing in that particular theatre in the near future. In other words, it was not uncommon for a kid's film to be preceded with rated R-trailers or vice-versa. From what i saw, all of the films were from the US. Most were subbed and some were dubbed. I don't remember the U.S. trailers having subtitles but i will never forget which two trailers were shown before the main presentation of Pocahontas: Judge Dredd and the 94 version of Fantastic Four. The Peruvian crown didn't seem too excited about Judge Dredd (although they did cheer for Sylvester stalone's name being announced. (note: the whole viewing experience was very interactive when compared to the U.S. at the time). Then they showed the Fantastic 4 trailer and the entire theatre went wild with excitement (including my 10 year old self who had just begun collecting pogs, marvel comics & trading cards, and pornography (much easier to acquire for an adolescent in Peru). It looked amazing (especially the Thing). I couldn't wait to see it in a proper U.S. theatre (as i was moving back to the U.S. in a few months). however, upon returning to the U.S. there was no promotional campaign for fantastic 4 and everyone i asked/told about it, thought that i had imagined the entire thing. Although the film was promoted in the U.S., the marketing was rather weak and had occurred whilst i was living in Peru and didn't seem to impact any friends or family whom had remained in the U.S. has nobody had any idea what i was talking about. ten years later, a sophomore in college, a film-student friend mentions the shelved 94 fantastic four (as the 2005 version was already being promoted and somehow looked worse than the 94 version...at least when compared to romanticized child memory of the trailer).
