I think it’s a great idea to learn about closed practices where you can, even if you’re not in it. Not to say that you should practice or consider yourself an expert, but the more you know the better you can sift through for things you CAN use. It also gives you more resources you can suggest to other people and help combat misinformation. The best sources will always be respected members of that closed practice, and there will often be books written by those people outlining exactly what is and isn’t closed to outsiders. The Medicine Bag by Don Jose Ruiz is one such book!

On the moss tiktok, I think I can help with this. I'm not an expert witch, but I pay attention in science class. Moss is a nonvascular plant, which means it doesn't have roots. Taking not having roots into a metaphorical sense, it could be used for travel, spirituality, or psychic awakenings. Moss sucks the moisture out of whatever it sits on top of, so it could be used in a hex to suck the life out of someone. Moss has a nice green color, so it can be used in protection and abundance. There times I kept seeing heart shapes in the most random things like puddles, crystals, spots on crystals, clouds, etc. since January after making offering jars for my altar for celebrity who had long passed away and suspected that it’s either from him or some love deity reaching out. I made a job interview jar and I kid you not, almost every time, I get the job and I’m just here like “holy sh.” Same with my quartz pendulum when trying to find things. I used to often have ringing in my ears at work and sometimes at night and tend to interpret that as “hey you’re doing great, keep going” or “GO TO SLEEP IT’S 2AM” 😂

YA’LL! Someone please tell me this was just a coincidence and that I’m just looking to much into things because I think I may have FUCKED up. Thursday I started hearing a ringing in my ear out of nowhere(just my left one if that matters) and the same day there was a spider in my room. It wasn’t a daddy long legs which I always see it was a different one that I’ve never seen before. Well not thinking…I killed it. That same day the ringing stopped. I’ve heard that ringing and spiders are signs of a deity trying to reach out. I’m not even done studying and haven’t even got to deities yet.

mundane before magical friend, always! have you had more bugs than usual in your house lately? the weather is warming up (if you're in the US) so they may just be coming out of hiding! were you exposed to any loud noises? or if you have tinitus regularly (which is p common these days), its entirely possible that its a coincidence! i would suggest writing down or keeping a journal of things you think may be signs, and then going through and seeing, do these have a logical explanation?

Hellooooo. Another witch hereeeeee. Spiders u say huh. Well it's important to know "mundane before magickal." Y'know how coincidences can happen and all, I'm glad u asked about it! Spiders are signs of multiple deities, Loki, Athena, etc etc. I'm not exactly saying that a deity is reaching out to, but I'm not saying they aren't reaching out to. Think about it first. Are the spiders in specific places that are weird? Near ur alter? Are they just roaming around where a regular spider would be crawling? It's important to think about these things because it's easy to misinterpret regular things to things magickal when u first start out. If you believe a deity is reaching out to you, try asking for other stuff, a certain angel number, a certain number, a certain animal, etc. Also try and not look for the things u ask INTENTIONALLY, that kinda defeats the purpose lol. Observe, if it won't repeat - it's coincidence. If more spiders (not only living ones, but images, toys, etc.) start to pop up, then you can suspect something. Usually single occurence is likely to be coincidence, but repeated occurence can be sign. Also deities (or other entities wanting to contact) are quite persistent (well, they DO have all eternity...), they will try for weeks, months, years. Also, when in doubt - try asking tarot, pendulum or other form of divination. My current deity was observing me since I was 6 months old (she is my "godmother" of sort), but decided to show up and start working with me this year. I'm almost 34. They are patient. They have time. They are used to stupid mortals ignoring their calls. And if they want contact - they will bug you until you will answer. Also they are rarely subtle, as quote "most mortals won't get hint even if it will kick them in the a$$"

My magick is in my music I can do any kind of magick oddly enough I have been writing about death recently from people who've died on the canal by my house to my grandma who passed away. I could write a song to a deity if I wanted to or not I could even write a spell on my violin or recorder. Music is such an important part of the craft wish it was talked about more he j I could even write a love song or a song about animal spirits or plant magick if I wanted to. And all it requires is pen and paper.

Sometimes people do talk about their closed practices online. Sometimes those closed practices end up in books, without the author informing anyone of the source or of the fact that it’s a closed practice. White sage and smudging are closed, but it’s so incredibly easy to find both of those online.
