I just finally played through RDR2 so there is some recency bias but story wise I don’t think I’ve ever been so gripped by a game. I had a minor injury and was out of work for a week and it was the only thing I could think about all day every day. I am a huge advocate for how amazing stories in games can be but rdr2 was another level entirely. The slow parts are so immersive and really make you feel apart of the world and it does a great job of letting you pick how you play. I loved a lot of the characters and tried to do good by my camp, but could see someone being more of an outlaw not caring and the emotional moments still hitting. 10/10 glad it won even though there were some other bangers on there

TOTK is literally a massive upgrade to BOTW in every way. It does everything BOTW did but significantly better. The first time I played through the sky islands I was genuinely taken away into another world, even more so than the first play through of the great plateau

honestly, connor’s take on botw vs totk makes sense. and i kinda wish they woulda gone against eachother in the bracket. botw was the most magical game when i played it. but tears, it’s easier to see the flaws when it isn’t as magical.

also. i love totk, but rdr2 should win. totk has basically no story. aside from that they’re pretty even

Botw took my breath away. I couldn’t believe what I was doing. When I played Tears it just felt lack luster. 😭😭😭

I agree with a lot you guys are saying about Final Fantasy Rebirth but I also think it’s a ton of recency bias. I don’t think people will talk about FF Rebirth nearly as much as most other games on this list in 10 or 15 years

I think a better way to look at this tier would have been to look at what had the best open world and not just what was the better game. While I think botw was an amazing game the open world was empty and lifeless.

I must be weird cause I played horizon zero dawn to 100% then played botw and I loved both games to death like to insane levels but I loved HZD a million times more no games (other then HFW) has hit me as hard as that game every game play element in HZD, every character in HZD, every location in HZD etc is the best gaming has to offer (besides HFW which is a better game) HZD has my fav story in video games it’s legit the only video game (other then HFW) that is 100% perfect with 0 flaws in it. Botw was life changing but it just was not even close to as good as HZD imo. Sorry
