I recently learned the hard way that as a KID player I can't play ...d6 after white plays Bf4 and Nc3 without c4. Basically, black gets ran over with e4 and a Q + B battery on the h6 diagonal. After Bf4 black has to forget about KID ideas and play ...d5. There isn't a better solution. I won an otb game with Bf4 d6 because my opponent got greedy with the immediate e5 and I was able to refute it. But a more skilled opponent would have just crushed me on the kingside.

There is a serious flaw in this line. Black should not play the immediate Bg7 on move three and instead play 3...d5 prompting White to play 4. e3 then play 4. Bg7 and get a good position with winning chances against White. If 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bf4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. Nb5 Na6 5. e3 c6 favors Black and the mainline 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bf4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. Qd2 Bg7 5. Bh6 Bxh6 6. Qxh6 c5 7. dxc5 Qa5 gives Black counter chances in a fairly equal, but unclear position.

Quite often when I i am met with kings indian as white, black plays bishop G4, I've seen videos saying attack with pawn e2 then pawn G3, but then black can attack my bishop with with G5, it then becomes a trade off, or something else. Could do with a bit better f advice. Thanks for the videos.

so the plan is, "just pray they don't know that you play d5 vs this"? I really don't like this kinda hope chess. This gets you against Grünfeld with a very poor line for white. Does a London player want to go into a Grünfeld against a Grünfeld player? That sounds like suicide to me and you def don't get to play any London ideas vs the Grünfeld. Playing the Grünfeld against a d4 Bf4 Nc3 setup is like a wet dream for a Grünfeld player that they would never get to experience normally. And the London player will be absolutely obliterated if they don't understand the intricacies of Grünfeld.
