Starting area may be optimized or load less things, but yea as soon as you get to Hogwarts the fps jump a lot, thats just bad optimization/denuvo I guess.

I just changed the upscaling to amd 2 and 0.33 as you said and set to balanced and the cpu boost + and my game is running with barely any fps drops on all settings high, when before it could barely run on medium without hindering the performance. Thanks dude!

Weirdly enough I almost exclusively have noticeable frame drops during cutscenes. Not too badly either. The game could do with a bit more optimization overall.

Same the game just chugs for me during cutscenes for some reason. This is definitely an optimization issue on the developers' end imo, because lets be real this game doesn't look that great and @TroubleChute is barely able to get 70+ fps with a 3080ti

It runs fine for the most part but will have the stuttering and fps drops , I was fine with then but I got to the troll boss fight right after you get your wand and it was a constant 20fps.

@@AlphaEvan this game has a problem misusing gpu power. It's using 100% of my 2070 using only 120W. 2070 at 100% uses 200W. So it seems there some problem on driver or the game itself using GPU.

WARNING FOR V-SYNC USERS If, like me, you need to use v-sync in your games, because of tearing, you should turn it off from the game and enable it in your Nvidia control panel. You can do it for HG Legacy only or for all your games. I had huge problems to run the game in certains areas, Hogsmeade for exemple was unplayable, but after enabling v-sync from the control panel my game now run smoothly. If you have bigs stutters and fps drops while using the in game v-sync, try this. I don't guarantee that it will work for evebody, but you have nothing to lose to give it a try. And tell me if it has worked for you.

Yea and honestly I looked past it at first because I was having fun but it stutters and drops fps more when it really matters. My entire troll boss fight was 20 fps with a 3070ti over locked in 1080p turned down to medium settings with dlss on. (Only turned dlss on because that how bad it got) and I I was only getting the 20-23 fps

It's probably a problem with the game since it hasn't even officially released yet. When it does there will probably be an update which will fix bugs, lag, etc., including the stuttering.

I know game do come with issues but i mean that's why you had beta testing and alpha testing on all consoles. so, the ones that paid a premium could enjoy it. The game was playable, but it is annoying eventually. Frame drops are unforgiving, because you won't get used to frame drop vs medium quality textures.

Yep, AMD FSR2.0 should work on any GPU. If your GPU doesn't support DLSS then you should try FSR.

Actually, even with a strong AMD Ryzen chip and an RTX 2070 Super GPU, I had to tweak things a bit because I'm playing on a 4K monitor. My presets all were at High with RT set to off and outside I was averaging between 3 and 38 FPS. Even after setting everything you suggested I didn't get that much better so I opted to take it back to medium and then low. I didn't notice any difference in visual quality between ultra and low but I did get a decent bump in FPS going down to low. I'm wondering if changing overall quality requires a game restart?

try setting your resolution to 1440p and upscale it back to 4K. set AA to low.

@@artofwar420 Good idea and I will try it later. The thing that stood out though is the minimal difference between ultra and low. I spent an hour comparing screenshots between the settings and saw that low has about 99% of the ultra visuals. It didn't matter indoors and outdoors. I'm thinking of keeping everything at low until an update shows that maybe low wasn't really low but ultra light because I did see a decent bump if fps....averaging mid 40s outside when it was more like upper 20s under ultra.

Sorry but this did not present the actual effect of the graphics settings to performance and image quality. Game effects and Post processing has a huge impact on performance since game effects control light dispersion and particle effects while post processing makes a noticeable impact on ambient occlusion. You should have displayed side by side comparisons to present the actual difference. Also, populating density makes a HUGE impact on the amount of students inside hogwarts and it is the main culprit in the fps drops and stuttering when walking in this game.

i am running the game on a 1440p screen with a 2080 Ti. Regarding the upscale type, to my surprised FSR imagine was looking much cleaner than DLSS especially inside the school. DLSS image had a lot of jagged edges compared to FSR for some reason. Even the FPS was higher with FSR somehow. Tried both on quality ( i never use performance or ultra performance in any game)

Yeah it's the same for me on a 2060 in full HD resolution the DLSS has a lot of artifacts while FSR looks a lot better even on balance and oddly enough also results in higher fps

I have a 3080ti and 32gb ddr5 6000mhz ram with i7 13700k playing on 2k monitor, using dlss quality, no v sync and uncapped however I do use rtss to cap my fps around 80, is it normal I get stutters when running around opening doors and walking into new zones? Example if I’m in the castle and run outside it’ll stutter a bit when I walk out then go back to normal, when I have no fps cap I have about 120fps but with cap at 80 it still drops to 70 or lower at times and stutters yet I’d have all that free buffer between 120 and 80 so why is it still dropping at 80 when it can push so much more? try this: open Windows bar (press the windows key or click the windows icon on the bottom left) search for Exploit Protection, click that, inside you will have a bunch of options, the very first one is called Control Flow Guard (CFG) turn that shit off and restart try the game again. I'm on an old GTX 1070 8GB, i-7 7700k, 16GB RAM 2666mhz and the game went from 25FPS inside hogwarts to 60-50FPS, huge gain, I can actually play the damn game now.

i have a 12600k a 1080 ti and 2k res. I run AMD FS2 at balanced, sharpness at 1.00, depth of field and motion blur OFF. NO RT, the rest of settings on ultra (I noticed they don't have much bearing on fps from testing). I run between 45-65 fps avg, not great, but stable and playable. The game clearly needs a patch however, I also tested the lowest possible settings, including less than 1k res. everything on LOW, and I only got an fps boost of 10-15 frames, with the stutter spikes STILL dipping down to 30s-40s. Some of the rtx cards are getting significantly worse performance than my 1080ti, there is clearly an issue with the game and new nvidia drivers will likely help too. EDIT: I should mention I'm pretty far into the game, these fps are within hogwarts and hogsmeade

I have an asus rog zephyrus from 2020 with nvidia geforce rtx 2070 and I found out on Reddit other people with rtx 2070 can run Hogwarts and I configured my settings to what they have (nvidia dlss on, ray tracing off, etc.) but I still have lag issues. but I can try your settings, tho when I turn dlss off I do get lag spikes 😥 I'm hoping Nvidia releases a new driver update that can finally make my laptop be capable to run Hogwarts!

Something that might help some people. AMD FSR2 works on Nvidia cards. I tried it on on 2070 and it works better than DLSS. As long as you have the overhead it will work beautifully at increasing performance with minimal visual loss. I went from 30fps in an outside area to 58 consistent.

4:00 You literally gained no frames and it actually decreased. Switching between all the dlss options for my 3080 does virtually nothing. All it does is scale my gpu usage lower and I get the same fps. The stuttering is atrocious. Up to 25gb RAM usage, horrible memory leak. They seriously need to get this day 1 patch out on the 10th as all these tips and option changes barely do a thing. People with lower performing gpus are getting better performance than those with higher cards. It doesn't make any sense.

i saw a video comparison from the rx580 running super smooth compared to the 30 series ,playing with my rtx 3060 is awful. opening the maps or menu takes a good 5 seconds

no clue wtf is happening. combat is smooth and i dont loose frames, the forbidden forrest looses frames here and there not often. when i enter hogwarts it drops immensely same with hogs mead. i do get slight frame rate drops passively too

I have a 3060 ti and my task manager shows 0 percent gpu usage almost all the time atmost like 4 percent! Anyone else who has the issue? My performance is fine though getting around 80 to 100 frames and dipping frames at the start of cutscenes

i tested around with the graphics and it must be bad optimization. on all ultra on 3060ti i get 50 ish frames with 70% GPU usage. When i drop the settings down to all low i get 60 ish with 55 low 1% but my GPU usage goes down to 30-40%. This is a sign of bad optimization or lack of an appropriate driver

RT is completely broken in this game and causes massive stutter. It’s also not much of a visual difference most of the time. I would turn it off for now and wait for some patches or driver updates.

Ray tracing isn't working correctly. They are having a day 1 patch go out when the standard edition releases. Once that comes out expect ray tracing performance to be better

I use a i9900k on 5ghz OC and a 3080 ti 32 GB RAM game on the NVMe and all settings on ultra at Start i got 80-130 fps on hogwarts 35-60 its so lagging 😢 i will try your settings later maybe it works better i hope it comes a Patch my System is not so Bad 😢

@@reeg_ that is with fsr quality. Steam forums is showing that 10 series cards outperforming 2-4 series is pretty common right now actually. It’s very playable for me but it seems not so much for allot.

@@140bricks4 seems that is common for 10 series. Really hope they fix newer cars performance. I am having a solid experience but many aren’t rn. My setup is 5900x, 1080ti, 32gb ram, ssd. It pulls 9gb of vram, 18gb ram. In castle I am hitting 120fps often where guys with 3090ti struggle to hit 75 in the same spot. Something horrible broken here.

Do you have the dialogue audio turned up? And there are subtitle settings, too. I don't remember which menu it's in. Either audio or accessibility menu. I turned my subtitles off so I can look at the screen more instead of basically reading a book. But I understand why you would want them on if you're having no dialogue sound.

I've got a 5900x with 3080 32gb of 3200mhz getting a average of 60-90 unless I'm inside hogwarts it dips below 50 with a bunch of stutters. There is a memory leakage tho as if you play it for an hour it starts increasing substantially loading into a save fixes that for me for a short while.

the game recoomanded my low graphics but that was only cause of ray tracing.. and this blurry effect at the start of the game is so weird and annoying.... the whole advertisment promised a high quality game, but all i see is skyrim on ps5. Elden RIng loooks so much better and it runs without problems or fps drops on my pc
