I held an original cocktail contest with my followers and subscribers. The contest was simple, create an original cocktail using south american flavors & spirits for a chance to win a grand prize of $500! In this video we go over each of the finalists and award the winner!
Overwhelmed by the staggering creativity of over 100 submissions, we painstakingly narrowed down the field to six exceptional finalists. Each cocktail tells a unique story, drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of South and Latin American flavors and spirits.
First up is Michael's "Astronauta" cocktail, a delightful blend of silver cachaça, lime juice, and apricot preserves, garnished with a touch of spicy salt.

Next, Keith presents his "São Paulo Sour," featuring an exotic blend of Brazil nuts-infused cachaça, Chinola, and a hint of black walnut bitters.
Brazil Nut Orgeat:
1 cup Brazil Nuts
3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
6 oz Water
0.5 oz Vodka
1 tsp Orange Flower Water
1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum
Roughly Chop Brazil Nuts and toast in 400F oven for ~5 minutes, stirring occasionally. After toasting add to food processor and process until coarsely ground (careful not to make nut butter).
In a saucepan bring the water and sugar to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Add nuts and let simmer for 5 minutes. Let the mixture rest for 8-12 hours. Pass mixture through a nut milk bag to separate nut pieces. Add Vodka, Orange Flower Water, and Xanthan Gum. Bottle and store in refrigerator.
Jordan introduces us to the "Desert's Kiss," a simple yet tantalizing concoction infused with cucumber, cilantro, and Ancho Reyes chili liqueur.

Aidan presents his bold creation, "Wrong Way Up the Rum Way," a daring blend of Novo Fogo cachaça, Ron Colón red banana rum, and a tantalizing red pepper shrub.

Then, indulge in the "Pera Pera" cocktail created by Kat Spzuk, crafted by our contestant using pear purée, Bel Brette pear cognac liqueur, and a hint of Yuzu for a bright, refreshing twist.
Finally, we're introduced to the "Alabado Sea Ekeko," a divine creation inspired by the Bolivian God of prosperity. Delight in the complex interplay of Singani 63, aloe liqueur, and green chartreuse, elevated by a hint of Sherry and saline solution.
