At 6:42 mins. how did you make the paper diya stand white? What are the alternatives which can be used for it and why do we use it at all?

+US Its gesso which we use for canvas as undercoat before painting. I have used this just to cover the prints on the waste papers so that when you paint with any colour the print is not visible. Anyway its your choice whether to use or not. As an alternative you may use plain white waste paper eg. Note books.
