Take out the waistband completely and add a new waistband? That way, you can make the pant's waist bigger too by loosing out from the seam allowance if needed.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. But I have a question please, when you traced the back pattern was it inclusive of the one inch added at the sides while drafting the basic pattern? Because I noticed the ankle measurement was still th same. Or the one inch add only stopped at the knee line? @Damidimension
