I work for Walmart and confirm this is true. Plus...5 day work weeks, 5 weeks Vaca your first year (bump to 6 after year two), free college, tons of benefits, never hunt for a parking spot at.truck stops, and treated extremely well....i like it. There are companies that pay more, but the home time and benefits just make me happy.

@@OverTheRoadATS The above information is incorrect. I too drive for Walmart. 1st year must work 125hrs for 1day Paid Time Off up to 21days add 4days if each Quarterly Safety Bonuses is met(plus a Quarterly Cash Bonus also), which is 25days PTO a year. 2nd year, 112hrs for 1day PTO up to 23days +4 if Safety met = 27days PTO a year. 3-5yrs 100hrs for 1day PTO up to 26days +4 if Safety met = 30days PTO a year. 6-9yrs 83hrs for 1day PTO up to 31days +4 Safety = 35days PTO a year. 10-14yrs 77hrs for 1day PTO up to 34days +4 Safety = 38days PTO a year. 15-19yrs 72hrs for 1day PTO up to 36days +4 Safety = 40days PTO a year. 20+yrs 63hrs for 1day PTO up to 41days +4 Safety = 45days PTO a year. Driving on a 5day schedule, you use PTO for those 5days. You start with your 2regular unpaid days off, get PTO your 5schedule days, then you get your 2regular unpaid days off, which comes out to 9days off. 5 PTO and 4 Unpaid days off. I have no idea how the Driver came up with what he posted. 1st yr, 5weeks would be 35days and 6weeks at 2yrs, would be 42days. That just isn't correct.

Old domain you need your trip/doubles and they want experience.Sysco wants you to have experience and you touch freight. Walmart pay is top tier but you need over 2 yrs experience with a clean record. Marten pay is trash min is only $1300 after taxes if you meet all the requirements. ABF you need trip/doubles endorsement with experience. Most of these companies want you to have at least 1 experience with a clean work and driving history. The companies the pay more want you to have 2+ yrs with a clean work/ driving record. Trust me unless you know someone at a company or you get damn lucky. Most companies that are good companies and pay well want touch you without 1 year OTR experience with a clean work/ driving history. The companies that much more want 2+ years with the same. 6 months want cut it trust me!!!! Been out here almost 3 yrs trucking has being struggling with freight.

Thanks for the detailed info! You are right, trucking is tough right now. However, history will repeat itself and it will shift back into the power of the drivers once again. This cycle repeats every 18 months. The current cycle we are in is longer than we've experienced in the past, but that's due to the huge freight during covid as well as the over correction and inflation we are seeing now. Stay strong, it will come back!

I used to drive for Barr Nunn I made 0.72 a mile with hazmat endorsement. Average weekly check was 1,400 to 1,300. Lots of sitting around and on average you get 1800 miles a week. Would not recommend if you get bored easily. Because you will sit ALOT! And no you’re not going to make 110k a year like this guy says in this video working for that company. I grossed 1700 a week and that still doesn’t come to 110k a year. I don’t even think team drivers make that.

I worked for Barr Nunn a few years ago. I ran mostly UPS and FedX freight, either from Amazon to UPS/FedX hubs, or hub to hub. Was never any sitting. But was all overnight. Since I ran eastern PA, through cross-Bronx, to Connecticut, and Massachusetts back and forth all week, I preferred to run nights, and park around 7-8 am when I had my choice of truckstop parking. Made real good money and got bonuses every 90 days. Can’t speak for the loads/waiting for people who wanted to run days. But as long as I’d run those nights, I ran a load every night like clockwork.

Then 3 months later they brought it down to only 1100 a day and longer routes so I was arguing with disbatch the money got to my head I never in million years thought u can make 6k net pay a week and only drive 300 miles a week

@thecspot13874 ай бұрын
@OverTheRoadATS I'm at marten right now. I rarely make above the min pay rate so it's basically a guaranteed salary. I'm only 7 months into my career so 1250 a week guaranteed isn't bad. It's nice not to worry about rushing or how much time is spent waiting at shippers. My biggest complaint is the customer service from dispatch is terrible.
