How deep down can they be and react to a top water lure? Also, do they only hit top water early in the morning and on cloudy days like regular bass or can you throw topwater for peas anytime of the day if the water is calm or only light ripples?

If the water is clear enough I’ve seen them come from about 6-8 feet deep to hit. I use top water any and all times of the day with a lot of success. But you will see a bit of a slow down in the middle of the day. I’ve fished in cloudy conditions with little bites but ones the sun came it the bite turned on. Peas don’t shy away from the sun as much as largies do.

@@RavalOnline I’ve tried a whopper plopper but just had largies hit…..maybe next outing it I’ll give it another try and see how it goes

Kikay Angeles medium heavy, great back bone and sensitivity. Use it to worm fish and throw most lures. I do use my other rods to throw the heavier lures though.
