Peacock bass are such a beautiful fish, we don't have them up where I live. Been wanting to go to to Florida for a while to fish for them. Love the video, keep it up!

Good video, thank you. You have the right idea, nine times out of ten I get more and bigger fish just walking the bank or in a little canoe in skinny water than I do in my bass boat, without all the hassle. A cool little lure also is the Borboleta Stick Popper, I brought back a dozen more from a Brazil trip last month. It's 10 cm and 14 grams so casts far, makes as loud a pop as you want depending how hard you jerk it and also has great action 1'-2' deep on a fast erratic retrieve. Another one is the Mirrodine, a red head XL got me a 15 pounder then next cast a 16 last March in Colombia, and one just shy of 21 last month. I did have a big one pull the front hook hanger on one but the stock hooks usually hold well even with big fish. I beefed up the hook hangers on a few for Colombia this year, they're great when you want a break from throwing big choppers.

@@rupiofishing1974 Subscribed, have a great year. You should give the clown knife fish a try up in Palm Beach county, I got six in two hours on lures one day before it cooled down, also jumped one off well over 10#. They hit a jerk bait and also the Vudu segmented rubber lures/same as Zerek Mullet. Snakeheads are plentiful also but only one jaguar guapote so far, those are cool little guys.
@rupiofishing19746 жыл бұрын
Roxanne Lubinsky I’ve thought about headed up there but from the research I’ve done it seems they’re pretty hard to find and only on a few isolated location. Maybe I’ll give it a shot anyways, at least it’ll be a nice change of scenery

@@rupiofishing1974 They also say they're hard to get on lures, I've gotten them at four spots and see them rolling most places up here. The canal beside 441 northbound from Atlantic in Delray north to Lantana Road and the east/west connecting canals like Stanley Weaver, the southeast edge of Lake Ida etc. When it warms up they'll be there, as always bridges are good spots.

Roxanne Lubinsky cool, thanks for the info. Narrowing it down helps a lot, wouldn’t have known where to start 👍

Came across your video, pretty much throw the same lures for P’s In Broward, when you use your zoom flukes which hook do you use? Is it weightless? A lil belly weighted? Rapalas crush Ps, but I’ve had not the success I’d like when I throw the super fluke, they hit it but not nearly as much as hard bait. Great info! Thanks 🎣
@rupiofishing19742 жыл бұрын
I like to use an EWG hook over a straight or off set hook. EWG hook has more space for the fluke to move into and easier for the hook to be exposed without it rehooking itself onto another part of the fluke. No belly weight when fishing for Ps as it changes that erratic action. I know when you start twitching it fast it sometimes pops out of the water but it still resembles the true behavior of prey trying to get away.

Awesome video man! I wish you would add the names of these lures in your description box so I can find em myself. If you get chance, let me know the names man, I’d really appreciate it. And also, what times in the day do you find it best to go fishing for peacock? Looking forward to your response, thanks!

Hey Danny here are the names of the lures: Hedon Torpedo Rápalas Skitter prop Zoom Super Fluke Zara spook Rápalas xrap Devils horse Basspro shop bait: don’t remember the exact name but get the peacock bass color in the tiny size As far as time of the day I usually have the most success morning going into the afternoon but this is a very aggressive fish that is not going to shy away in the middle of the day like a lot of fish will. once I start fishing in the morning I don’t see a big slow down throughout the day so you can’t really go wrong with the time of day. I usually don’t fish for peacock as the sun is setting so don’t have any info for you during that time frame. Hope this helps and good luck!

Have you had luck with those super fluke smokin shad soft baits for peacock bass? I crush large mouth but I’ve never ever caught a peacock. It must be my large mouth background keeps me on the soft baits and worms thats what I slay with. But I guess I need to switch to a different lure/hard bait/rattler even maybe
@rupiofishing19743 жыл бұрын
Super fluke is one of my favorite baits for peas, if you’re not having any luck try this cadence....twitch , twitch , pause....twitch x3, pause....repeat. Work it FAST. Peas are extremely fast and aggressive, the faster you work it the better...if you see them chasing but not striking work it faster....that’ll get them going. Believe me you CANT work it to fast.

No mention of a jig? I catch more on jigs around sewers/coverage than any other bait.
