Thanks for the very helpful video. I found the side by side clips very telling. There is clearly a difference in the ease of grinder between the two - which as you pointed out is probably expected given the much higher volume that results from the one. For me the ease of use and ability to add small amounts of pepper are more important than the huge volume so if I do pull the trigger it will be the Cannon

sure, but I doubt it will get much worse. Only the Moulin seems a little inconsistent or can feel stuck at times but that's not the burrs rather the mechanism. Seeing as I have experience in quality coffee grinders, and they used quality burrs, I don't see them getting worse. I've actually owned and used the Moulin over 2 years, the Mannkitchen Cannon for a little over half a year and use both quite enough.

@@GadgetsGearCoffee It's an acceptable compromise at the price range. Also, I 3d printed a cowl of sorts since pepper doesn't need that much torque. Definitely can buy a C2 and a 3d printer in the price that either of these sell.

I was looking for a comparison for these exact two options! Will probably go with the Moulin

@@GadgetsGearCoffee ended up buying the Moulin set (Pepper + Salt grinder + Caddy). I prefer the aesthetics of the Moulin- it looks more interesting and cohesive on a table or countertop. Being able to adjust grind size without putting my hands near the burrs is also nice, especially when cooking. Lastly, I wanted a grinder that outputs a lot of pepper. A couple cranks of the Moulin outputs a ton ground pepper. The price of the mannkitchen set is (without promos) $400 vs $580 for the Moulin. Felt like the extra $180 was worth it for the aesthetics, adjusting mechanism, and output.

One “problem” is that I also really enjoy green pepper. It has a bit more fragrance/citrus qualities and less heat (good for guests who don’t like heat). I also use white pepper on occasion for italian or chinese food…
@GadgetsGearCoffee9 ай бұрын
@@rc_matic do you find it a little difficult to grind pepper? I find it is harder on than Cannon for sure for me especially when hands are wet, but once I start cranking I can keep a momentum going. WW told me it was the peppercorn I was using but I'm using the same in both with different results (ease, quantity)
@GadgetsGearCoffee9 ай бұрын
@@rc_matic AHA! So I also use white pepper (I never thought of using it for Italian food though! which dishes?) and freshly grind many other spices, at first I would empty out my grinder then put the new spice in and then put the pepper back, I'm fine with a little mixing but it was more work than it was worth. The other spices I use are usually softer than black pepper, like white pepper is quite easy to grind so I got a textured mortar and pestle instead (took me THREE different ones until I found the right one) and have that on hand for coriander seeds, cumin, white pepper, allspice etc. something like this amzn.to/3VMsu3H or amzn.to/4cHesGN

Have you seen the Luvan grinders? Seems like promising competition, but a lot cheaper
@GadgetsGearCoffee9 ай бұрын
I have not! there are so many options out there nowadays, it's becoming like coffee grinders (though grind adjustability and uniformity is less a necessary thing on pepper grinders, I'm sure it's good as well :) it comes down to preference now and the Mannkitchen Cannon CUP is a different thing I haven't seen on others, though not difficult to replicate

Nice grinders. I wonder how the 'Cole & Mason 7.5 in. Derwent Gourmet Pepper Mill' (top rated by America's Test Kitchen; around $55) or the Trudeau 'Stress Less Easy Grind Pepper Mill', which is said to 'grinds large quantities of pepper quickly and with ease' ($40). Or some coffee hand grinders would fare, like the Kinu M47 (take your pick of variation, which cost between $219-$429), or some cheaper options like the KINGrinder K4 or K6 (both around $100) or their least expensive models P0, P1, P2 (around $50, more or less). Or numerous other brands. You'd have to compare the burr sets included to those used in the pepper mills you featured. Their capacity might be an issue, but there seems to be a lot more options with coffee hand grinders than pepper grinders. And maybe consider the Kruve Sifter, if you're extra obsessive. Thanks for your video. (Sorry, I now see you have other coffee related videos!)
@GadgetsGearCoffee11 ай бұрын
I couldn't find the Burr set size got the mannkitchen cannon but for moulin I believe it was 47mm so I left that comparison out as I couldn't find the info for one :/ not sure about the Trudeau the other I tried from my friend that I linked in the description it put out a lot of pepper too, but from reviews its durability is questionable. It's the same as hand coffee grinders, but there def could be a player out there to make a metal not a single piece version that could be cheaper but still effective. A coffee grinder for pepper may work well but may not cuz of Burr geometry and how it ends up grinding a diff type of material that will crush different

I watched all your comparisons videos on both products & still undecided🤷🏾♂️ I'm kind of leaning towards the mannkitchen, but I love the look & build of moulin. Like most consumer products, there are diminishing returns the higher up you go on the price point. There’s the cheapest and most expensive options, and everything in between. A Rolls royce costs more than a house, while a mitsubishi mirage costs less than 1/10th of that. I wouldn’t call a Rolls Royce Owner “Pretentious” and I wouldn’t call a Mirage owner “poor” or “unrefined”. The things people buy and their character, while correlated to some degree, are unrelated on an individual level.
