Ok Trudy needs to come live in SA, she loves it so much. I love Kenyans and Tanzanians. By the way Trudy, you’re correct those buildings are old but they are so beautiful inside. They are are mostly Art Deco architecture style which is rated highly in architecture world. I think Johannesburg has one of the most number of Art Deco buildings for a city in the world, Miami has the most. Another city of South Africa which is just outside Johannesburg, has more of these Art Deco buildings only second to Miami

Actually all the main cities have their own culture scene and you can tell even in how ppl dress...Joburgers have a very specific edgy vibe to their style, Durban tends to be more laid back cause they are just at own pace being coastal and chilled even in their style and CT can be quite fashion forward with a bit of grit and Coloured ppl make the CT urban culture interesting, Go to Pretoria and it’s a whole different vibe.

Oh Braam is a student village basically. Most buildings there are Student Residents. The students could be studying which might explain why the streets are empty. If not studying they juss indoors. They prefer their student life within the facilities of the buildings there’s entertainment and everything. There’s a University 2 blocks away from that street called WITS. Maybe if you want extra content you can drive in with an Uber to showcase the University. It has interesting architecture actually and world class facilities. Check it out. I repeat don’t walk in rather drive in with an Uber they won’t give you problems.
