It's convenient for you to ignore all the benefits Brits and other foreigners bring to Greece to make this silly post. I especially enjoyed your use of "fam". You don't wants Brits in Greece but you accept their British ghetto lingo. HILARIOUS irony. 😂😂 Thank goodness most Greeks appreciate the benfits foreigners bring to Greece.

Hello guys! Just a tip, ask your utility companies for a detailed breakdown of the electricity and telephone/internet bill, if this applies to you. I grew up in Athens, my parents found we were being consistently double charged on the bill that came through the post. Only when you call them on the phone do they tell you "there's been a mistake". Every billing period. So, don't be afraid to ask them to explain themselves to you. Cheers!

Before the floods, and the fire we had the summer, I loved Volos, and it became difficult, and now I love it again. And I always well. And I still say if you have a disability, it’s a very easy city to navigate compared to many others. Attitudes are… Starting to change, I’m working on that one. It might not have the culture that Athens has or the foods in the Thessaloniki house, but you can always go there for a weekend or a couple of days and come back. And I’m learning with time to make up my own cultural activities. There aren’t as many foreigners here, but the ones I have met are able and willing to help, I speak Greek anyway so I have an advantage there an a lot of the foreigners I meeting also speak fluent Greek since money have been here a long time. But again, I think our area frightens people because of what happened in September.

When you live in a foggy place, take pills for vitamins and anxiety all year long and have poor sources of nutrition, then only thing in your mind is the vacation in Greece, for which you're making plans 10 months ahead, just to have something to help you keep going. All of these are beautiful spots and your post being from expats who actually live there is very helpful! One tiny note for watchers considering moving...Chania is pronounced Hah-nee-ya. No 'ch' sound. And yes Thessaloniki is Amazing. Best food in the whole country. And some of the most diverse blend of music, Rebetiko, aka Greek blues is amazing. If you are American, consider Athens the LA big urban sprawl culture, everything, BUT Thessaloniki is like NYC best food, universities, more walkable, less sprawl, easier access to both islands and mountains. Just the best mainland location. Great job on the line up. All would be a blessing to live in...hoping to expatriate to Greece in the not too far future!!

I live in Athena since I was born, so I' m used to it. But I don't think it' s the best place to live in Greece. Polluted, noisy, too much traffic, and also, much more expensive. I agree with you, I would prefer Naflio (there are also many other small beautyfull towns) if you want to live on the mainland. If you prefer living on an island, then probably Crete is the best best place to live. Living on a small island is very hard, especially in winter.

This list doesn't apply to everyone as everyone has different preferences. This selection is based on people voting by having gone there on holidays. If you are going there to live your needs will be different. Personally I chose an island that is one of the top 5 in size, doesn't have a crazy amount of tourism therefore it's more low key and the prices are a little more reasonable... Some people may prefer the mainland, to have easier access to major cities, others prefer tiny island for more tranquility. Others like more traditional places, others like modern places... The best way to choose a place is base your decision on work, accessibility, cost of living and your personal preferences.

@@LivinginGreece Yes, Ioannina and Preveza are top notch. Both in the district of Erirus, with Ioannina being its biggest city of 85k population, surrounded by the Pindus mountain range and on the shores of the Ioannina lake...! Preveza, a generally tranquil, seaside town of 20k people, on the shores of the Ionian sea, almost opposite the island of Lefkada. Plenty of idyllic views, all around the gulf of Amvrakikos. Another must is Volos. Second biggest city after Larisa, in the district of Thessaly. A port city of 85k people, by the shores of the Aegean sea. Especially renowned for its appetizers, snacks and little bites in general, accompanied by ouzo and tsipouro. A clean, tidy, easy going city with close access to the mountain of Pilio. A mountain which is famous among mainland Greeks as a touristic destination, with truly remarkable nature and traditional villages scattered across its sides. Known in mythology as the mystical mountain, where the hero of the Iliad, Achilles received his training and education, by the mythical creature centaur (half man, half horse), called Chiron. Finally, another two towns worth mentioning is Kavala (55k), east of Thessaloniki and principal seaport of the East Macedonia district. Alexandroupolis (70k) too, the most eastern Greek city, the closest to the border with Turkey, biggest city of the district of Thrace and an important port and commecial centre of Northeastern Greece.

One time in Athens, my Google Maps was not working and I got trapped in the middle of the city for 2 hours. Daughtling along red light to red light to red light to red light behind diesel engines had me so nauseous I couldn't hardly function. And the motorcycles revving and blasting by you at high speeds. Honestly I don't see why someone would like to live in Greece!!! my dream is to spend the rest of my life somewhere in G.B!!! Maybe in Kent or even in Edinburgh!!! I am Greek but Greece is good only for holiday 😊😊

First of all, when you go on holidays, you go somewhere nicer from where you live, because you want to break free. That alone is a valid argument to want to live in Greece. Secondly, just because you're ignorant doesn't mean that everyone else is. Many Greeks have lived abroad and many foreigners choose Greece to live. We can compare the pros and cons. You can't. Thirdly, Greece is currently one of the top places for digital nomads in the world. So, please take your misery elsewhere. We will do just fine.

Depends on your life aspirations. The UK is a damp moss covered rock that is slowly sinking under its own weight and stupidity. Greece however is a warm dusty rock surrounded by nice sea and is slowly on the up. Plus the food is nicer here. And cheaper. And its hotter. And we get a 50% tax break for 7 years. And greek people are cool.

Well actually I have lived in Britain for a long time during my youth as much as in other countries so let me have my own opinion.. I do love Greece but I hate dust and hot weather... finally you don't have to be aggressive and rude..have a nice weekend

We used to go to PH every friday for friends meet up but in the winter we were the only ones there and most things are closed so we moved this year to Ermioni and do PH only once a month now. We've got friends there and they say its dull in the closed season.

If the question is: People-beauty, Kerkyra (Corfu) is the only choice. If we add weather all year round Crete/Kalamata/Nafplio are the obvious choices. Athens and Thessaloniki are very ugly, dangerous cities, non-citizens-friendly. If one thinks food choices are a must then....Crete/Thessaloniki/Corfu/Kalamata. If one likes driving a car/SUV/van/motorcycle/bicycle then Crete is a definite NO. If one expects health care and is not of an optimistic nature, one should have a valid private expensive insurance policy package and choose Athens only.
