Live in upstate ny and was at work at golden corral, i went out for a quick smoke break, and there was a crowd of people behind the restaurant and parking lot next door. That's how i found out about the eclipse. After seeing enough yt space and science stuff, I knew that using my phone camera was the best way to "see" the eclipse. Used the video function and carefully held my phone still, got the sun in frame, and watched the eclipse that way. Was pretty cool. This year i have an actual camera to record it and the viewing glasses, i is prepared.

@@namehere4954 We were kind of lucky because it happened in the afternoon. I went down to Argentina to see the one in July 2019 (yeah, I’ve become a bit of an “eclipse chaser” lol) and that one happened an hour or so before sunset. It was cool for that reason, but the day-to-night was not nearly as dramatic and thus awe-inspiring. To anyone who hasn’t seen one, I would definitely recommend going to one that happens during mid-day. There are sites that list all upcoming ones. Next one in US territory will be in 2033 but totality will only be in Alaska. Next ones to hit contiguous US won’t be until 2044 and 2045.
