The energy on this plugged in is actually insane, it's why I loved the malistrip plugged in. Despite being too drilly for my taste it gets me jumpy and that is just so important for music. That "mind her mind" sequence was INSANE and he actually made a good airforce reference. Not to mention how iconic "that's big facts" is, you can tell ppl would scream that at a concert.

I give the lyricism at least a 9, there were some very cold punchlines and multiple entendres that hit so much more because he's talking about real things that have happened. Can't be a 10 because there were a lot of similes and when he started repeating some lines like "that's big facts." The flows are an undeniable 10 though. I agree with some elements of the beat not being mixed well, but each element works so well with each other. The jumpy snares and punchy kicks layered over that emotional violin with all the effects creates such an interesting contrast. What was really lacking for me were the 808s. They sounded decent, but could've been a lot more dynamic in terms of when it kicks in, the pitch, filters, maybe some panning, and the pattern of the slides was quite basic. I'd still give it an 8.5 for the melody alone.
@KRXOVRmedia2 жыл бұрын
After watching some other people's reactions, I def didn't catch EVERY line but I wouldn't inch past like 8.5. This is because it took time to build up and I also wouldn't say 9 because that would mean it's ALMOST comparable to something like a Daily Duppy which typically gets 9s and 10s from me. By DRILL standards, it's a bit above average, but compared to artists like Dave, Ghetts, PS, TwoFace, 9 would mean it's close to that level based on my scale. That's just to give my 8 some more context since I didn't get to explain here. As for the beat breakdown, I couldn't have done any better. You dissected that way better than I ever could.
@ak-jxrdy-72 жыл бұрын
@@KRXOVRmedia I understand your rating a lot better now, thanks for the clarification. I definitely wasn't thinking in terms of a Daily Duppy or UK music as a whole, I was judging by just Plugged In and drill standards, so fair enough. Yeah, he's nowhere close to TwoFace, PS, etc. lmao.

@ak-jxrdy-72 жыл бұрын
Those are iconic and have had a huge impact. But when you take in the technical elements and really analyse the music, C1's Plugged In is miles ahead of CGE's (cold, but everyone on it is capable of more), Woosh's (was my favourite for a long time) and both of the 156 Plugged In's (same thing as CGE, they've all got so much potential and despite Nito's flows, his wordplay was nothing special. Workrate really did show a lot of improvement on both Plugged In's, so we have to give him that credit).
@AllMightyPUSH-042 жыл бұрын
@@ak-jxrdy-7 on technical terms yes c1 probably will be ahead but the plugged ins I just mentioned are the type you could listen to hundreds of times but still never get bored ykwim like this plugged in is amazing but Honestly I only played it on Spotify a couple times Til now like I just don’t feel that desire to listen to it like that because I’ve already cracked all the bars so they won’t surprise me like the first time anymore and the bars are the main thing that c1 has going for him I mean all the other plugged ins I mentioned definitely have better flow that this
@ak-jxrdy-72 жыл бұрын
@@AllMightyPUSH-04 I can't agree with that. Flow, and all other elements of rap, is a difficult thing to judge, because music will always be subjective. However, you can always tell when someone is rapping over a beat at a certain tempo and you can tell how difficult it would be to do, as well as how good it sounds. Another thing to add is your rhyme scheme/pattern while you're flowing. Nito is great at assonance, which I'll show you an example of in my next comment, or else this will be too long, lmfao.
@ak-jxrdy-72 жыл бұрын
@@AllMightyPUSH-04 My example with Nito: "No A&E for an _aisle yute_ *(IOU),* Bro's _slidin' through_ and _I'm riding too,_ Like, _ride on who?_ When I _ride on you,_ we'll _slide and shoot,_ you can _die in blue,"_ from the Plugged In with Sixty. Very cold and it even had wordplay with the vowels. But he doesn't have anywhere near the same level of conviction and energy that C1 has. I'll give you a similar example from C1's Plugged In that *also* has a 3 syllable rhyme scheme and around the same tempo, with slightly stronger assonance because of the "i" sound being repeated not only on just the first, but also third syllable: "Just cause I won't _mind her mind,_ When it's _riding time,_ my bullets don't _hide it's like_ tryna feed a man _bine on bine,_ Niggas tell _lies on lies,_ don't _drive, just line_ out, If you get _bine, it's mine,_ " He then switches it to incorporate an additional 2-syllable internal rhyme, while still on the 3-syllable rhyme scheme he started with and also has cold wordplay with DigDat: "Nah brudda, keep _talkin',_ if I don't catch a man _walkin',_ I'm gonna _find his guy,_ When I'm air _forcin',_ I'm gonna dig that _all in,_ gonna be a _grimey night,_ " I hope you can see/hear the difference between Nito's and C1's verses, and understand why I say C1 basically did what Nito did, but on a greater level when you take the time to analyse both.
@ak-jxrdy-72 жыл бұрын
@@AllMightyPUSH-04 Regarding the replayability, I hear what you mean, but I think that's due to preferring the older drill sound. I personally enjoy C1's beat compared to the 156 one. I can definitely still go back and enjoy the 156 Plugged In, but I can also listen to C1's an equal amount of times. I think we'll have to give C1's Plugged In some time (around 3 months to a year) before we can truly come to a conclusion on if it will still sound as good as it does now.
