🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 🎧 Wearing headphones during podcast recording prevents echo and audio bleed, improving audio quality and reducing feedback issues. 00:34 🎙️ Headphones help you hear your voice as others do, allowing better control of audio levels and mic technique. 01:03 💡 Headphones enable you to detect popping sounds and external audio issues during recording, saving time in post-production. 01:35 🎧 Consider factors like price, comfort, portability, wired vs. wireless, and headphone type when choosing headphones for podcasting. 02:38 🚫 Avoid noise-canceling headphones for podcasting as they can distort audio quality. 03:38 🎵 Look for headphones with a flat frequency response, impedance between 32-80 Ohm, and sensitivity between 80-125 dB for accurate sound reproduction. 04:06 🎧 Five budget-friendly podcasting headphones under $200 are recommended, each with its own features and price points. 05:38 🎙️ Headphones are essential for podcasters to achieve studio-quality recordings, and Riverside.fm can help eliminate echo issues during recording. Would the rodecaster pro II be able to support 250 Ohms ? Or the rodecaster duo.

The Audio Technica ATH-M50xSTS headphones (whether you get the XLR version or the USB (my choice) version) are superb, both for monitoring & for the microphone quality. The best microphone on a headset/headphone that I've personally tried out, bar none. In fact, this microphone sounds as good as the mics I've connected directly to my computer (Rode X XDM-100, Sennheiser E614, Presonus PD-70), whether via USB or an audio interface (Audient EVO 4 in my case). The comfort & fit is also surprisingly good. They are over-priced IMHO, but when you're the only game in town...

New models from Beyerdynamic are the DT-700 PRO X and the DT-900 PRO X. The DT-700 PRO X has some advantages over the DT-770 PRO. It has a newly developed 48 ohm driver with a high-flux neodymium magnet, which is much more easy to drive than the 250 ohm DT-770. The DT-700 is tuned so that it has less strident treble than the DT-770. The DT-900 PRO X is a semi-open-back headphone. I have a pair of DT-900s, which I use for mixing and mastering. They have less sound isolation than the DT-770s and DT-700s, but you may find them OK to use in front of a microphone if the headphones are run at a reasonable level. As with microphones, it's best to try out a few different headphones to see what you like best before you buy.

Can I use headphones with a USB connected mic in riverside and hear myself and my guests?

Yes! Plug your headphones into your computer, rather than your mic. Make sure to set your speaker/output to "external headphones"
