Beautiful Z06 ! Not ready now, too soon. Close to retirement in about 3-4 years and will be looking at either a C5 or C6 Z06 or a Cadillac CTS-V

I agree with Javier, get the 6 Speed Vette. But be sure to check out the C4 LT5 and LT4 as well. They have a (IMHO) better look and a better transmission.

@@stephendibari5010 The C6 Z06 is my number one all time Vette... my Number 2 is a C4 LT4. Be sure to drive as many as you can before dropping your load on one. I was shocked at the performance of the 96 LT4 Corvette and jumped on a 8500 mile example for $19000.00 and could not bet happier.

Nice car, I have one. It's not a 180 mph car though. The transmission gearing hinders top speed. Top speed is about 167 mph, I have heard others say 171 mph.

bought my professionally built 03 Z06 in 2012 for 25k. Dyno'd at 580 rwhp. Stock wheels and tires so she can't do a proper dig. Love doing rolls on the freeway and embarrassing Hellcats and other modern sports cars. Could sell her for more than I paid for her 12 years ago.

@@a68rebel I have a C-5 and it's a combination of materials. Here is what it is now and for all the newer models. 'A number of contributors helped drive down the C5's weight, including the use of SMC body panels that had a higher content of plastic than ever before. The material, which is basically the same as used in the C6, was composed of about 40 percent resin--polyester, vinyl ester, styrene, or a blend of all three--33 percent calcium-carbonate filler, 20 percent chopped fiberglass, and the remaining 7 percent resins and hardeners that improve the out-of-mold surface finish.'

Base C6 has the same horsepower, better interior, better brakes, better technology all the way around and costs less than a C5 Z06

And 10 years from now the base C6 (which is excellent) will be worth $15-17k while the C5Z will likely be worth 28-30k because it has developed a cult following due to its more "raw" nature and it being the 1st modern Z06. And the C6's brakes are not better. From Motor Trend: an '08 C6 brakes 60-0 in 110 ft; an '02 does it in only 104 ft. Skidpad? The '08 did 0.97; the '02 Z06 bested it with a 0.99. The C5Z is faster than the '05-'07 base C6 (LS2), and is identical to the '08-09 (LS3), both going 4.1 sec 0-60 and 12.5 sec. in the 1/4 mile.
