I enjoyed your video and appreciate your efforts in relating all this information. However, with all due respect :) , please note that the valve from 2.5 inch (with three holes) is actually more powerful, to make up for the short barrel length. The manufacturer puts the weaker valve (with two holes) to the 8 inch model to avoid making it too powerful. I have done a lot of testing, with measuring the speed of the pellets (I used rear-loading shells and normal lead pellets). I have then tried swapping the valves, and got about 80% power increase in my 8 inch model, with a valve from 2.5 inch. I then tried to drill two extra holes in the two-hole valve, and got a similar power increase. However, such modification is very tricky, as the holes must not damage the edge of the little circle (the circle/ring needs to meet the silicone washer), and it also must not damage the little stem (because otherwise too much air would escape to the back of the valve, when firing). It was interesting, however, that the resulting 4-hole valve was not more powerful than the 3-hole valve. I guess that the 3-hole valve basically allows all the compressed air to pass through in time, and so providing a wider opening does not make a difference. Kind regards and apologies, if this breaks your theory. By the way, I have noticed that the 2-hole valves are now available to buy separately - probably because of this misconception.

@@wojtekjarosz4072 Thank you for your availability. I'm seeing this is the 4.5mm Dan Wesson. Do you have any idea if the 6mm version has the same 2-holed piece that you can drill an extra hole into? And where is that piece hidden?

@@MihaiLeonardoNiculescu I have no experience of the 6 mm version, but I suspect it is similar. However, drilling an extra hole is VERY difficult, and if you do not do it exactly right, you will make it much worse, rather than better. I am used to precision work, being an amateur watchmaker, but I still found it tricky. Unless you have experience in such work, don't do it! Remember that the new holes must not damage the edge of the little circle (the circle/ring needs to meet the silicone washer), and it also must not damage the little stem (because otherwise too much air would escape to the back of the valve, when firing)

Please let me know if this is correct : the 8 inch is more powerful than the 2.5 inch valve. The 8 inch washer has a smaller washer. So if you only switch the washer for a smaller one on your 2.5 inch, will to increase the power? Or would you also need the 2 holed pin? And if so , is it possible to plug the hole yourself using liquid cement or do they need to be diametrical?

I have the 6 inch Dan Wesson and just the other day it started playing funny buggers, i have taken it apart to have a look and i dont think it is the seals, looks like the part that pierces the co2 has broken a bit and doesn't pierce the canister properly which makes the co2 spew out, came across your video while searching for spare parts, do you have any idea where i can buy one of those parts you show in this video?

to give everybody a detailed update. i got the 2.5 inch valve and the 8inch. i modded the 3 hole 2.5 inch valve. i modded the hammer and a new fireing pin put a much bigger main hammer spring in. went and purchased a brand new trigger set and ground.2 mill of to make room for the spring. since opening the ports on the 2.5 there is no doubt much more power. but in return you lose gas quicker. for me ... i cant get parts so i have to make all my own and upgradeing them while im at it seems to do the trick much better. did you ever sort were to get these valves from online? thanks id like to by a few.

@@zafosinferno888 i guess u re right. i was googling the mods also and decided that larger diametr holes let more gas out in the givin hammer time. So this would help the velocity. The gain for the fps was because of the valve nut. There was more gas volume and more pressure. If the valve hole behind the bb is a little bit smaller that would produce more power. I will modify my ux tornado and make larger holes inside the gas tank. This mod would be beneficial if the hammer springs dont allow any modding.

Barrel lengths a big factor too !!
@rogergale8649

Thanks for info. I have a pellet firing 715 with 6" barrel. Outer barrel is a dummy. Inside is a 3 piece assembly, comprising 2.1/2" rifled section, a 3" sleeve bored 5mm (so it does nothing) and the whole assembley slides backwards and forwards against a small spring at the muzzle end. Any increase in gas pressure only pushes the inner barrel forward, breaking the seal at the the front end of the cylinder, allowing the excess pressure to escape. Increasing the spring tension in the barrel stops the cylinder turning when using the trigger(but it can be turned by hand). I guess the same arrangement applies to all lengths of barrel for this model, except the 2.1/2" version. I have fitted my own 5.1/2" rifled sleeve which has improved accuracy but has not increased the power by much.

I just purchased the 8 inch pellet version and the geezer in the shop showed me a 6 inch 715 first telling me it was better, when I looked down the barrel I saw what you've just described, a little bit of rifled steel and a brass tube, the one I chose has 8 inches of rifled steel end to end and is pretty accurate for a gas pistol, anyone thinking of buying one check the barrel first if accuracy is what you desire and lets face it its never gonna be powerfull enough to hunt vermin, tons of fun though eh.

@@MachineElf I was interested to read your comments, it seems that the 6" version is only produced with a 2.1/2" rifled barrel sleeve. I would be interested to know if the extra 2" of barrel makes much difference to the velocity. The best I can get out of mine is 385fps using 7.72 grain pellets. If you have a chrono it would be interesting to compare the two barrel lengths, having fitted mine with 6" brass rifled sleeve.

Why not just add a small nut & bolt under the Hammer spring ? there's a perfect place for it plus you can adjust the power that way ... I hear Models not produced for the UK have this already but they remove it for the UK market... seems a lot easier than this plus you dont have to source parts etc 👍👍

Where do we order the 8inch valve?
@hervevdb
@hervevdb 5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that it will make a difference to change the valve. In the 6 or 8’ you need more air to push the BB outside the barrel. The quantity of air is related to the length ok the barrel. That’s it.
@zippy0036
@zippy0036 4 жыл бұрын
The longer barrel is more gas efficient, so needs less gas to achieve the same muzzle energy or more ( 3 J). Hence the 2 hole valve. The 2.5" needs 3 holes (more gas) to compensate for the short barrel. - and still only delivers 2 J. These 2 idiots have just convinced you that 2 is greater than 3
@hervevdb
@hervevdb 4 жыл бұрын
zippy0036 let say that with the same quantity of gaz you push the ball in different barrels. The pressure of the gas decreases with the moving ball inside the barrel so if you want to keep the efficiency of the pressure against the ball you need to increase the pressure the longer the barrel is. This is physics.
@zippy0036
@zippy0036 4 жыл бұрын
@@hervevdb : Nope, You've misunderstood brilliantly! In the longer barrel, the gas accelerates the projectile for longer. So the same volume of gas will do more work. In the shorter barrel, the projectile cannot accelerate for as long - so they are trying to vent more VOLUME of gas to compensate - The PRESSURE remains the same. (They are powered by the same caplet at the same PRESSURE) Once the projectile clears the muzzle , the expanding gas is vented to atmosphere and increases noise - It is no longer driving the projectile. It is wasted. Look at any military pneumatic gun from history, they all have long barrels. There is always a "Sweet spot" where the projectile isn't being driven anymore. this is where the barrel should end , for Max efficiency. So you can see why the short barrel has 3 holes and the long one has 2. They are substituting for lost PRESSURE with VOLUME. THIS is physics.
@hervevdb
@hervevdb 4 жыл бұрын
zippy0036 Good point. What’s about the friction in the longer barrel ? But I agree with you on this logic. I am not a specialist of weapons. I use to shoot with a 6” Dan Wesson BB revolver. I tried to change the spring hardness on it but it didn’t changed anything. I have a very nice precision as it is.
@zippy0036
@zippy0036 4 жыл бұрын
@@hervevdb : The friction of the barrel isn't as significant as you think. In practice it simply moves the "Sweet spot" a little backwards. slightly more in a rifled barrel. Putting the M5 screw inwards that controls spring tension will do little for FPS. Its true purpose is to sweeten the lock mechanism. if you screw it all the way in you will find the cylinder revolves, but the hammer wont cock - or the trigger wont reset on release.

So the hammer hits the fireing pin releaseing air and the washer sets the valve opening. Thinner washer means the valve can open more. 8inch has thin washer.
