In this 'Best Practices' webinar we continue to discuss how to improve your performance in SOLIDWORKS. This time we investigate computer specifications and hardware requirements. How can you get the most out of your computer setup and what to look for if you are in the market for a new CAD workstation. We will go over the basics when it comes to computers used for CAD applications and get into the important settings in both Windows and SOLIDWORKS that will increase your performance in the program and your time on the clock.

@5:05, you recommended 3.3 GHz, are you talking about the base speed or max turbo speed of the cpu here?

Ideally we are talking about base speed. Turbo or boost mode or whatever the chip maker calls over clocking can only be sustained for so long. That being said if your only dealing with simple geometry or small part count assemblies lower base speeds may not be a huge impact, because of the overclocking available.

I currently have a 3080ti in my system and was wondering if a quadro would be more beneficial. Thanks!

The Ge Force Cards a built on different technology than the quadro cards and in the long run will likely end up more unstable. Additionally because the Ge Force cards are not tested at any level there is very little that can be done if things start going wrong. The best thing to do is stick with certified cards and their certified drivers www.solidworks.com/support/hardware-certification/
