Ahhh. Guess I didn’t put on enough glaze. Came in like your 1 coat.

Like the video, would have liked to see the end result. I have seen in the comments to email, but probably easier to just show the pic of it. I assume the base coat was leather and then muddy waters over the top. On the plate which is white opal and cobalt wash, did you make the lines (chattered carved etc, or was this a result of the glaze running?
@MaycoColors3 жыл бұрын
We added the final results to the thumbnail, but have been unable to edit the video to add it directly. Sorry for the confusion. As seen in the video, we applied 3 coats of Muddy Waters to the bowl, no leather was applied. The lines on the plate were made with slip.

I’ve recently bought Muddy Waters and this is very helpful. I fire to a cone 8 and will only apply this glaze to top third of the pot, would this be okay?

Sorry another question, would the matte & ice Mayco’s be okay at cone 8? Thank you :)

That should be fine! All of our Stoneware glazes can be fired up to cone 10. Check out our website for cone 10 reduction results so you can get an idea how they perform at higher temperatures.

I loved that seal much more than the one currently used. I wish they would seal them again with the former seal. Because the new seal can be messy, not coming off completely or tearing sticking stubbornly onto the pint.
@MaycoColors2 жыл бұрын
We just recently switched back to our normal seals. We had to switch temporarily due to supply shortages.

Has to be applied to Bisque fired clay ? Confusing , I know some of your glazes can be applied to greenware.
@gsandau Жыл бұрын
It's a Cone 5/6 mid-fire glaze, so you apply it to bisque-fired ware.

So I tried this and after I put 2-3 Coats of muddy waters on the inside like shown the glaze cracked when it dried fully? Will it still work or do I need to start over or apply another coat? It’s also hard to find the crystals. What happens when the crystals are gone, etc. i see you scoping them from the plate, will it be like this every time.
@MaycoColors2 жыл бұрын
The cracks will smooth out during the firing, but it does sound like the application is very heavy! If you are having a difficult time accessing the crystals, we recommend to scoop the glaze onto a play like we have in the video here.

should crystals be used on food dishes, I read something about only to be used on decorative wear?

That is typically the rule for earthenware, but it is okay with stoneware.
