Well done! Loved that segment, it helped me verify with my discography and agree with picks most of the time but feel there were a few misses in honorable mention, especially from the Dirty South: - 2003: o Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below o Three 6 Mafia -The Unbreakables - 2004 : o G-Unit - Beg for Mercy (underrated) o Young Buck - Straight Outta Cashville - 2005: o Three 6 Mafia - Most Known Unknown o Slim Thug - Already Platinium (underrated album with some of the best Neptunes production) - 2006 : o Snoop Dogg - Tha Blue Carpet Treatment o T.I. - KING (far superior and aged so much better than Paper Trail that you mentioned for 2008) - 2007: o Jay-Z - American Gangster: so underrated and has aged so well (actually did not fully appreciate it upon release) o Lupe Fiasco - The Cool (for me superior to Food & Liquor) o Common - Finding Forever - 2008: o Q-Tip - The Renaissance (can’t actually decide between this one TCIII & 808’s for my favorite album of that year)

2007 is EASILY Lupe Fiasco The Cool, do people even know about the concept of the album and the whole story of The Game, The Streets and The Cool? For me it is the best ALBUM OF ALL TIME, best concept and it isn't even close to me. This is one of the most underrated albums and people really should take their time figuring it out, it is an absolute masterpiece.

Below the heavens is really close, but the cool is genuinely one of the best albums of all time. Crazy that people aren’t mentioning it, it’s better than food and liquor. It’s my second favorite album of all time, behind Drogas Wave also by Lupe

For 06 it would definitely have to be donuts. In my opinion Donuts is maybe the best hip hop album ever made. Dilla’s ear for sampling is something that nobody else has or ever will have. Even producers like Madlib or even Kanye, while it is phenomenon. They don't have the one of a kind way to flip a sample in a way that both completely changes the entirety of the feel of the song being sampled, but even changing the meaning of the music in the sample to reflect the tragic state Dilla was in at the time. But also mad respect for picking Blu & Exile. More people need to check that masterpiece out.

@@alfiewebb2627 it has a few great songs (which just lose it is not, it's decent at best and bad at worst) but like 50% of the album is absolutely awful: evil deeds, puke, rain man, big weenie, ass like that, spend some time. Mosh and crazy in love are also bad but i don't mind them as much, the songs you mentioned minus just lose it plus yellow brick road and curtains down are the only good songs on the album. To insinuate that it's even close to the college dropout is insulting

I will leave a long comment since the 2000's is one of my favourite decades of hip-hop. I have chosen 3 albums per year. Some are obvious choices but I would like like to draw some attention on less known albums that are amazing IMO. 2000 🥇 Marshall Mathers LP absolutely flawless. 🥈Train Of Thought by Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek collaborative work) The album has a positive vibe from beginning to end and the lyrics are so beautiful. I highly recommend this one if you love rap. 🥉 Like Water For Chocolate by Common. A musical masterpiece. I love how organic it is. 2001 🥇 The Blueprint by Jay-Z The production is on point and Jay-Z is on top form throughout the project. 🥈 The Realness by Cormega This album was one of the first rap albums that I discovered on the internet around '05 or '06. I didn't know who Cormega was at that time, but in some rap forums and magazines his name appeared several times and I downloaded this album. The lyrics are brilliant, the rhymes are on point and the album has a reflective aura that makes you think about what's important in life, it was one of those albums that really made an impression on me. 🥉 The Best Part by J-Live Super underrated, in my mind is a hidden gem of rap. Great rhymes and beautiful flow. One of the great underground records of all time. 2002 🥇 The Eminem Show This was the first CD I ever bought. Eminem abandoned his Slim Shady alter ego and gave us a more adult and mature version of himself. 🥈 The Lost Tapes by Nas The beats here are quite different to the rest of Nas' discography. The rhyme schemes are incredible and Nas displays all his rapping skills on this album. 🥉 The Future Is Now by Non Phixion Another underground gem from the early 2000's I thought they were black for a long time, lol. Hardcore rap, amazing record. 2003 🥇 Get Rich Or Die Tryin' This one is full of hits, I can listen to this record several times in a row and I wouldn't get bored. 🥈The Listening by Little Brother 9th wonder's production here is impeccable and the rappers' style fit into the beats perfectly. Fresh, creative, and inspiring. 🥉Shadows In The Sun by Brother Ali This one grew on me over the years. At first I enjoyed a couple of songs but after some time and with more knowledge of hip-hop culture it really blew me away. The rhyme patterns are incredible and the lyricism is remarkable. 2004 🥇Madvillainy by Madvillain MF DOOM's weird style matches amazingly well with Madlib's unconventional beats. Two rare artists produced one of the best hip hop albums of all time. Pure rhymes, pure beats, bars everywhere, not a single chorus on the entire project, no bulls***. 🥈 A Long Hot Summer by Masta Ace English is not my first language and I gotta say that Ace's diction and pronunciation is crystal-clear. I could understand every single word that this dude says at the first listening. The storytelling here is insane. Every rhyme is vivid. Underrated MC 🥉 3:16 by Murs It amazes me how many underground records from the early 2000's are really great. 9th wonder produced this one. Murs delivers clever rhymes and superb wordplay while describing the trials and tribulations that young men must face in this life. If you are a working class man or have been through some really difficult times, you can totally identify with many of the issues that Murs rap about on this record. 2005 🥇Modal Soul by Nujabes This japanese artist really reach my mind, my heart, my soul, everything with his beats. I put this at this position because it's maybe Nujabes' best album. I don't know how his music could be so melancholic and yet so joyful at the same time. Some artist really gave us jewels that make our life better and Nujabes is definitely one of them. 🥈 Be by Common The guys of the podcast already said it the album is so beautiful and so positive, it really stands out just by its vibe. One of Commons' masterpieces. 🥉 Monkey Barz by Sean Price Sean Price is the complete opposite of Common. He is one of the rawest rappers I've ever heard. The guy doesn't gave a fu** about what people might think. He seemed to be true to himself and genuinely authentic. This album might not be his best album but is so raw and the rhymes are so heartfelt that it deserves some praising. R.I.P Sean P! 2006 🥇A Piece Of Strange by Cunninlynguists This album is kind of unique on its own the beats are low paced for the most part and some of them have a calmness that is rare to find in other rap albums. The lyrics are outstanding as well. 🥈 Servants In Heaven, Kings In Hell by Jedi Mind Tricks The album's title was what caught my attention and it didn't disappoint me. Vinnie Paz is amazing on the mic and his delivery is outstanding, the lyrics are truthful, direct and outspoken. 🥉Food & Liquor by Lupe Fiasco I really appreciate this album because I think it brought back consciousness and clever rhymes to mainstream hip-hop after some time. Quality content. This is my perspective as a person who is from outside of the US, and English is not my native language. I really love Hip-hop, I learned a lot of what I know of English through rap, it is my favourite genre and my life wouldn't have been the same without it. If I have time I will put my favourite albums from the last part of the decade. Greetings from Argentina! 🇦🇷
