I hate to say it but for the 2020's, I still see Drake, Cole, and Kendrick running things, honorable mentions Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Future and Uzi. Its like there is no Gen z born superstar.

Exactly. Cole didn't make it a concept. Hate that people act like Cole started the beef by bringing that up. I feel like these people were born yesterday

In my opinion I feel like it should be broken down even more such as like their come up years when they’re proving their talent. 1984-1988: LL Cool J, Rakim & (Slick Rick or Big Daddy Kane) 1989-1994: 2Pac, Biggie & Nas 1995-1998: DMX, Jay-Z & Busta Rhymes 1999-2004: Kanye West, Eminem & 50 Cent 2005-2008: Lil Wayne, The Game & Rick Ross 2009-2014: Kendrick, Cole & Drake 2015-2018: Travis Scott, xxxtentacion & Juice WRLD 2019-2024: I have my own pics but they’re not big enough in mainstream yet - Kenny Mason, Paris Texas, & (Ransom or Teezo Touchdown)

This is so wrong how can Biggie and Nas be from 1989-1994 when their debut was in 1994. Busta Rhymes in 98?? Lil Wayne came before Kanye and Kanye debuted at 2004 with TCD. Rick Ross? where is TI? Nelly? XXXTentacion debuted in 2017 and died in 2018. Juice WRLD debuted in 2018 and died in 2019. So you are very wrong with the placings here I cant answer for 80's so I wont even attempt rather than narrowing it to big 3 strictly I will do it according to dominance: 90s- Tupa, Biggie, Nas & Snoop Early 2000s- Eminem, Jay Z Late 2000s- Weezy, Kanye, TI & Fifty 2010s- Kendrick, Drake and Cole 2020s- This is the reason why rap is on a downgrade because the top 3 rappers are still the onces dominating from the 2010s and the guys that were supposed to run the 2020s are dead i.e. X, Juice and Pop Smoke

@@XIIGRIM I’m basing the years that they debut as the timeline for a new “wave” that begins to emerge not necessarily the years that they dominate because arguably 2pac didn’t dominate till 1995 but he came up between the 1989-1994 generation. Biggie and Nas come from the generation between 1989-1994 not that they necessarily dominated 1989-1994. Busta Rhymes best work is arguably his first few albums which start in 1996 and DMX really dominated in the early 2000s but his debut of 2 albums in 1 year was in 1998 which are his greatest albums. Lil Wayne did come before Kanye no doubt but I did just really make it work with a “Big 3” and couldn’t with 50 cent in those years. (I also lowkey feel like lil Wayne is a completely different artist from 1999-2003 vs 2005-2008 but I can see how this could be a problem) You could swap out Rick Ross and TI I was just thinking in the moment and forgot about his crazy run. Nelly is also a power house in 1999-2004 but I put Kanye just cause he technically makes the cut off for that “generation”. Again I mostly made the list of when these artists are debuting (besides maybe lil Wayne) and besides Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott, who were the other 2 biggest upcoming artist of 2018? xxxtentacion and Juice WRLD. I do think the only true rap star that’s debuted after 2015 and has dominated everyone in his class is Travis Scott (not necessarily skill but in terms of a superstar like a Drake, Kendrick or Cole)

My biased version of this would be: 1980s: Slick Rick, NWA, LL Cool J 1990s: Biggie, Ice Cube, Mobb Deep 2000s: Eminem, 50 Cent, Nas (Was a big name in the 90s and 2000s) 2010s: XXX, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller. 2020s: Im not that big on new school rap but from this decade I enjoy Kendrick and Tyler, maybe J Cole as a 3rd

The rest of the 3 you mentioned shouldn't even be in the convo. They either didn't have the chart topping hits, classic albums, or just overall energy that a Big 3 contender carries.

@YourBoiHyper 21 is at his peak. He doesn't have staying power and his voice isn't standout. Keem has mentions, but that's because of Kendrick being his cousin. Leaks of demos Keem used (from Kendrick) have been a thing for a while now. Aside from that he will not be spearheading the next big 3 convo. And JID has maybe the right rapping ability to cause waves, but his potential isn't enough to amount to it unless he gets the right coaching from Cole
