Good video again Stefan! A client demanded me to bring a 14mm lens, but I did not had one at the time. I had the 16-35mm and the results were good. Later I asked him why he needed 14mm so badly, he replied "I do not know, I just copied these requirements from somebody else" Some clients do know what they need, but 95% simply don't

Hey Stefan, I've got the Tamron 17-28, the Sony a7iii and a couple of good tripods.Since I am currently in my condo, both early in the morning and later in the afternoon, maybe I will try out some of your great real estate photographing tips for fun! Seems as good a way as any to deal with the self isolation and I might even pick up a brand new skill. Stay safe and I hope business picks right back up for you again as soon as we beat this thing together!

Would you say the new 14mm f/1.8 GM is overkill for real estate? I shoot primes so it sounds like a option for real estate, in theory with small form factor for gimbals. Otherwise I’m looking at the Sigma 14-24.

Would have loved to see a slide with all these lenses showcasing their widest focal length. 12 - 14 - 16 while minimal difference its actually huge and has been a big deciding factor on what to compromise on, are you able to provide any type of this comparison?
@StefanMalloch4 жыл бұрын
I can try to put something together in the future. 12mm is going to be too wide imo and misrepresent the space most likely.
@ZachAtaxx4 жыл бұрын
I have the Zeiss 24 - 70 mm lens, I know the Sony A7 ii can shoot up to 1080 p or the XAVC -S format, but I bought a course on Real Estate Videography and the guy was saying you should have a 11 - 16 mm lens, not anything larger and not anything smaller otherwise it could be too distorted if it's bigger than a 16 mm lens. however I also bought this lens from watching a video talking about how the 24 - 70 mm lens is great for photography AND videography, I'm so confused lol.
@LAAM6193 жыл бұрын
1. Dont buy photography/videography courses. 2. 16-35mm, 14mm, 24mm, 24-70mm are all good for RE 3. I used the 16-35 and 24 and a tripod.

I really do not understand why you keep saying "you're not going to be shooting wide in real estate" - I love wide shots, I can crop stuff out if necessary and it looks better. Care to explain, please? Currently I use an iPhone 11 Pro Max :) which, if I understand correctly, is equal to 13mm and I think it is almost perfect, I could go wider...
@digitalclips4 жыл бұрын
I assume he is referring to aperture, not focal length. Two large of an aperture will give too shallow a depth of focus. He can't mean 'wide' as in focal length since that's the whole point of the video, using wider angle lenses.

Why no mention of the Laowa 9mm, the best rectilinear zero distortion lens for APS-C - Laowa also have a new 9mm zero distortion free lens coming out out for full frame not to mention the already fantastic 12mm for full frame.
@StefanMalloch4 жыл бұрын
I dont have any experience with them to be honest and 9mm is way too wide for RE imo.

@StefanMalloch4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend a full frame camera as you have some better options with wide angle lenses. You're pretty limited with APS-C wide angle lenses. For Sony anyways. For me its the A7iii and the 16-35mm F4

Very informative video. But no, a full frame camera is not necessary. I have been shooting real estate with a t5i rebel and the efs 10-18 lens. Cell phones shoot better than my camera. No matter the camera you use, you have to bracket your shots anyway, unless you don’t mind blown out windows. I’m planning on upgrading my camera system soon. I’m looking at a7iii, x-t4, or even a LUMIX g9. Yes, even a micro 4/3 is a huge upgrade from my old canon rebel. But if I decide on the a7iii, I will look at the lenses you mention.
