Wait, wait! I can generate the same photos with AI in Stable Diffusion! Why I should buy this monster lenses if I can generate the same image with Ai ?

Great review of a great lense. Having just bought the Sony 70-200 f/4 for my a6700 and wanting to travel relatively light, this lense seems to tick all the right boxes for my future wildlife endeavours. The 200-600 is just way too big for my taste and the only competition this lense has for me is the Sony 100-400 GM. But I am afraid even for ambitious amateurs the price of that lense, puts it safely out of reach for us. If Tamron ever released that 200-400 f/4, which currently is just a patent and a rumour, though, I might just get that one.

Got the Tamron G2 and it punches way above its weight. Even though it’s full frame this is a godsend lens if you’re an apsc shooter the weight is a huge advantage. It’s near macro at 70mm but does need a solid 30” at full tele so the Sony macro has it beat. But still. It’s a great value and something that fits in my normal camera bag. Fast aperture gives great subject isolation or *screaming fast* shutter in bright light.

I don’t know if I have a bad copy, or I’m spoiled with good prosumer lenses, but even the Sony 24-105 is way better at 35mm than this toy. It’s sharp, but always has ghosting and fringing. And unlike a Zeiss that also does that, it’s not pleasant ;) .

Man, I'm REALLY debating on this lense. For me, the price is super high. As a hobbyist, my shots don't earn me any money. I initially wanted a min. Of 500mm, with a goal of 600mm, but those are way out of my price range. But this lense looks great.

Thank you. I have this but now looking for a better performing alternative for stills photography that is still on the small side. What would you recommend? Take care.

I'm using a sony A6400, would you reccomend me this lens to use with it? or the lack of image stabilization can be a major issue? I'm using the lens for travel photography (landscape and occasional portraits)

The one feature I hope Luminar implement is lens profile correction instead of relying on their auto lens AI correction.

This is still an amazing lens in 2024. But is it true, that the f5.6 minimum aperture already starts below 200mm?

I'm setting aside buying a 85 mm lens and go with this instead.
@MinoltaCamera6 күн бұрын
One very important thing is the balance of the lens. The 85mm feels heavier than the 90mm because the 85mm is very front heavy and at the same time it is too short to hold in the palm of your hand (like you would hold a long lens). The 90mm is excellent in this aspect and is therefore much more comfortable to use.

Is actually necessary to also switch to manual focus and use manual to have a consistent exposure? (I've always thought what if I start with a darker part of the scene then get the sun in the frame, isn't better to change exposure?)

This also depends if you are on a high megapixel camera. Unfortunately I only have an A7iii and it doesn't give me a lot of room to crop.

Really looking forward to your in depth review of Tamron's new 50-300 zoom especially how it compares to Tamron's older 70-300 lens. Happy Canada Day to you and your family, Stefan!
