May I recommend two new tests for the mopping of the robots that you can add on? A edge test, and the grout test? Edge would be like dried stain on the edge of the floor where it meets the wall. Grout test is for tiles floor to see after a long period of time of using the robot to mop the floor, did the robot leave any built up dirt on the grout? Cause every time when it mops, the edge of each tile is scraping the mop pad like a squeegee, so potentially the dirt will be scrapped off and left in the gap inside the grout.

An edge test should absolutely be part of this, especially since certain vacuums have extending arms and mop pads for that purpose specifically.

Other things he should test are software features and reliability. Some robots will give you problems and errors the longer you own it. But testing that will take months of continuous use.

I currently own a Eufy S1 Pro and i can say it is indeed the pinnacle of robot vacuums that can actually CLEAN hardfloors . In the last 7 years i got a lot of robots but nothing can t compare to this S1. Also tried the QRevo MaxV and X40 Ultra but they don t even come close , Eufy's mopping capabilities are truly amazing . For me what matters is if it can properly clean the house with a simple touch on the station , i don t care about the features. Also a huge advantage in my opinion is that you don t need the phone to start the vacuum ,you can just press the touch button on the station. I mention that i don t have any carpets in my house .

The Eufy Omni S1 Pro mopping truly is revolutionary with its high score for mopping and its roller that stretches the near full width of the vacuum. Even better that it is constantly cleaning the roller as it goes with clean water. If only they could increase their vacuuming performance.

This is great. You could slice and dice this stuff so many ways so it's helpful to know how you did the tests. I could suggest one run of the flagships where you dial up each to their highest capabilities, basically giving them their best chance and see if anything changes, so allowing the use of cleaning solution etc. to see how they are in real world use not just benchmark uniform configs which while helpful may not be as accurate for how they get used. I would be interested to know which flagships can actually detect the dirt in your test and do re-mopping runs, that might be helpful to know. Or doing a run of all the flagships on their auto settings and see how that plays out.

You are so right about the amazing progress that robot vacuum/mops have made over the last few years and how the appearance of docks that can do pretty much all of the mop maintenance for you is a game changer but for me there's one other factor. Now I realise that not everyone will have water and drainage in a place that is convenient for where they want to position (ideally hide) their base station but I'm lucky that I do so for me a mandatory requirement now for and future robot vacuum/mop I might get is that it has the option of a fully plumbed-in dock. I've been using a Eufy X10 for a while and I love it (enough to be about to relocate it to my holiday home) but in my main home where I'm using it right now I find it frustrating when I get an alert that there wasn't enough water in the tank for it to do its daily run and I have the dock hidden away quite well which, while it makes my home look less cluttered, it does make it a bit tedious to get to the water tanks every 4th day. I've just had a Dreame X40 Master delivered and will be transitioning to that in the next few days. While it was disappointing to see the X40 performing really rather poorly in these latest mopping tests I'm not too concerned since my home is mostly carpet and I suspect the X40 mopping will be good enough for the level of dirt my hard floors pick up (which is very little). As long as its mopping performance is as good as my Eufy X10 I'll be happy and anything extra will be a bonus.

My family prefers the spinning disc style as they clean our hardwood floors better. The vibrating pads don't get inside the grooves and devits as well, if at all, leaving puddles or dry spots where it's missed. This is more attributed to the thicker microfiber pads.

would be great to have a dock comparison review as well. my last vacuum robot had a fully functional cleaning and mopping base but it was below average for me (not detachable base, water left at the bottom, autoclean at the end messing things up).. one thing is to have a feature, another is to test it, like we don't just trust suction power as a number..
@jlolmentАй бұрын
This is a great explanation of the new methodology! In future reviews, I hope you'll consider taking privacy into account. One of the reasons I would prefer a Eufy S1 Pro Omni over the technical top scorer is that it has independent data privacy certification, whereas most other robovacs don't address it at all
@jordanlee2645Ай бұрын

Imo I would like to see a lot more attention being put to corner and edge vacuuming and mopping. Since we're seeing some swiveling mops and side brushes being more common I would very much like to see that as part of the score. Since something that can clean the whole floor moderately is a lot better imo than something that can only clean the middle, albeit perfectly
@nanobot5365Ай бұрын
Bro you define the middle of the room as everything except the last few centimetres to the wall... thats just stupid. You dont even use that space.
@DraconicBovineАй бұрын
@@nanobot5365 uhm. Do you know about the existence of dust? It will settle evenly across the whole floor. So if the vacuum doesn't go all the way to the edges and corners it will get nasty over time. And I don't know about you, but I have plenty of floor that is exposed by walls and corners. So if you have a pet you can bet they can make those places dirty too
@nanobot5365Ай бұрын
@@DraconicBovineI ment just mopping not vacuuming I have nothing against extending sidebrushes but extending mops are just silly. I know that dust particles can fly into the corners but you can just vacuum them up. You don't have to mopp the edges. It just adds extra costs and mechanical parts that can break
@DraconicBovineАй бұрын
@@nanobot5365 imo it's still a very important metric to capture. If swiveling mops can capture dirt that non-swiveling one's can't then the score will be incomplete. Which is why I'm arguing that it should be tested as well. Since they stated in this video that their previous tests weren't good enough because they could not differentiate between the top performers. As time goes you will see the same thing play out again regarding edges and corners, which is likely the next battle ground for robot vacuums
@bawbthebuilderАй бұрын
Would love to see a questionnaire on your website to narrow down the best vacuum for specific needs! Like I’m looking for a fully self cleaning robot vacuum and mop, that removes tangled hair, for the lowest cost. @stefanosstamatiadis740Ай бұрын
Congrats for the updated review process. I really enjoy your content! But, for machines that cost about 1500 euros, I would expect near perfect results, in a variety of situations. With that money you call literally buy an expensive steam cleaner, an expensive wet/dry vacuum (+extractor for upholstery) and a cheapo robotic vacuum and steam your floors in no time flat, blasting grime in seconds. Also Admittedly steam cleaning does not suck the mess, but neither these robot mops if I understand correctly. I really need such a magic vacuum in my life, but their usage scenarios seem to me very limited. What if you came back because you forgot your keys in the morning, bringing in mud and you lunch with visitors right after work? What if your kids throw wet food under the sofa. Will it clean it? Notify you that there is food in a concealed location that is unable to tackle (there's a new feature of the top of my head). Will probably remain there, untill you do your manual cleaning. So for me these seem more luxury than convenience at the moment.

Most people don't run the robots four times, or even twice for that matter I would do 8x for first pass removal, 4X for second pass, 2x for third, and 1x for forth It will probably not change the ranking, but differences in the first pass removal
@sancus128 күн бұрын
You should add a "best for hair(pet or otherwise)" category to the website, because I believe this is one of the areas where even expensive robot vacuums still fall down, and it's hard to tell which have the best combination of features and performance. Dust bin size, effectiveness of auto empty on hair filled dust bins, and how often(if at all) axle/brush maintenance is required are all factors. Personally think this is more important than obstacle avoidance.

I have SwitchBot S10 as well and does a much better job than my old roborock s6 , I also have it on last firmware and use “dampen mop” feature that empties and refills the robot with fresh water and dampens the roller mop before doing the task. Also the new firmware updates allows more water to be used (at first the water used was too little even at max setting). I think that no robot will ever be perfect and in no time the “best” will become the second best because in this space innovation in the last years proves it. I like the Narwal new robot for obstacle avoidance and the anti tangle brush design, the SwitchBot and Eufy for roller mop, the Roborock for its app and integration with smart homes, the SwitchBot for the easy connectivity to plumbing ( I also saw that other brands added stations for this as well). So yeah, competition is good, maybe more and more will be possible in the future.

How effective are these robots at navigating across door thresholds?

Hi. Great review as usual. We have a considerable height difference between common areas hardfloors and bedrooms hardfloors. What would be the best robot vacuum (including mop will be better) to handle this height difference?. Thank you.

Thanks for your videos, I'd really appreciate if you could create a video on latest top end releases from Roborock vs Dream and Ecovacs. It will be very helpful to also get your opinion on their software, UI experience overall.

hello, love the videos they have been really helpful. I wanted to know if you test iRobot Roombas, are they just testing so low they are not mentioned? If you do test them, can you provide the scores they got too, even if its super low?

looking forward to a test on the new narwal freo z ultra, it's supposed to sense how dirty the stains are and go back and forth to the docking station to clean the mop and change the water until the stain is gone, does that count as one round or more?

Bag less vaccum station is a must now.
@azak4243Ай бұрын
New feature category should be added of “active/self cleaning mop pad”. It could be scored as either having one or not. That would level the scoring for the S1 I think. Stain test should include 3 grape juice and 3 coffee and 3 dried glow in the dark. Then you would get the performance of the self cleaning mop pad feature.

0:33 I see you tested the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI. What score did it get?

S1 pro is the best by far if you have mainly hardwood floors, no need to look elsewhere
@HihowdywhatsupАй бұрын
Would be nice if you could wipe the floor after with a paper towel to see what is left behind after the mops finish the job, hopefully you can do that next time.
@fookoff8660Ай бұрын
They dont clean like that at all. They always leave small layer of.filth
@Brendon471Ай бұрын
@@fookoff8660Not the S1 Pro since its mop roller constantly cleans itself. I’ve tested it myself on my own floors with fresh spilled juice, beer, and dried coffee. It leaves absolutely nothing behind.

What do you think about duo Rollers? Many of the new ones have only one
@fookoff8660Ай бұрын
@Brendon471 i meant like, if youve dirtier than usual floor youd still have to deep cleaN it yourself before a robot can do it. were talking about subjective amhent here but for example, my dogs brought in a lot of mud onto my porcelain tile floors, and no robot will be able to squeaky clean it unless many runs. But this is probably not a normal amount of mud
@Brendon471Ай бұрын
@@fookoff8660I’m telling you the S1 can as I’ve used it for exactly that purpose and it performed flawlessly with two crazy puppies going in and out frequently. My previous Q Revo could not handle this at all and the floors would feel noticeably dirty when barefoot. The S1, however, gets it all with a double pass and it’s as simple as telling Siri “clean the kitchen and living room twice” (those are the rooms the pups go through the most). 20 minutes later the floors are spotless. It really is that good.

Hey @vaccumwars, why eufy X10 Pro Omni Robot Vacuum was not included in the review? Is it still a good vacuum to buy in 2024? the price is starting to go down on Amazon (C$899)
@mmurphy1533Ай бұрын
Apropos real world conditions vs moistening the map pads before the test, for self-cleaning robots, a realistic test would involve having the mop start its own base station with dry pads. If the base station pre-moistens, great. If not, well, tough. That's what it will be like in real life.

Hey @vacuumWars! I have a disability called Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity and cannot use any "smart" devices includes laptops, computors, tablets - and phones. I would therefore love and appreciate if you could include the top 10 picks (or top 5 or whatever) of robo vac/mops that don't require a smartphone, and for which i can use a remote! Also so very extremely grateful for your contect - youtube is how/where i find and figure out about anything since I am not able to really go online. Props!!!!

I really love this channel. Absolutely love it. You do such a thorough job on explaining which ones are the best. Have you ever done a video on the eureka? J 20 ultra? I’m in Melbourne Australia and I just purchased one and I think it’s amazing. I just wish the app was more like Robo rock.

Same, I came from S7 maxv plus ultra or whatever, and the x40 blows it out of the water. Unsure why older gen bots are out performing better in his test, both for roborock and dreame, he needs to dive into that ASAP
@frankyeung7764Ай бұрын
Could this because of the newer models equip with dirt detection at the station, and its being programmed to conserve water by default? It would rather to re-mop the specific area with dirt detected, instead of being generous with water use on its entire mopping schedule
