For heading east (Berlin etc), the Trelleborg-Rostock connection (6/7h crossing day/night) beats them all, IMHO, at €70 when booking enough in advance, and no fees for extra passengers unless you book cabins, obviously.

You can also take the ferry between Helsingborg - Helsingør instead of Öresund bridge. It only takes 20 minutes and departure is every 20 minutes as well. No booking needed. This saves about 40km in each direction.

I also made 3. Land route many times with BroPas (GER to SWE). It is really the best. As mentioned after one trip BroPas is payed off and you can return, means it is always cheaper than standard price.... It is flexible, you can go anytime, make break anytime and depend just on you. Because first time I used ferry Rostock-Gedsder and there was some technical problem of ferry during the journey and we stuck in the middle of the sea for 2 hours...never again :)

Alternative is fjord line from langesund departure only 30 min more travel time, departs 14:30. Much nicer ferry. More eco friendly (runs on gas not diesel). And always cheaper in my case.

A month ago I drove from Hamburg to Oslo and took the Scandlines ferries Puttgarden-Rødby + Helsingør-Helsingborg. If I remember correctly the combi ticket for both ferries costs 145 € (car & 1 passenger).

I like the ferry from Oslo to Frederikshavn. You leave from Oslo in the evening and arrive in the morning. I think I like that route best.

I usualy take the europtrip via Trelleborg and take the night Ferry to travemünde, with a god night sleep, and first charger in germany is in Braak that is located at a bakery with awsome breakfast. Also IF you go saturday evening, you get a truck free autobahn on sunday

@9:45 Where does that supercharger power come from? For many countries, www.electricitymap.org can tell you in real time. Right now Denmark is producing so much wind power that they're exporting some to Norway!

You could also drive to Trelleborg and take the ferry to Rostock or Sassnitz. But its probably best if going to Berlin.
@HansKruse

If you go to Berlin, then there is also the Gedser-Rostock ferry. This takes two hours, but the route to Berlin is better than from Puttgarden to Berlin. There are fewer ferries on this route so less flexible, but I usually use this one when I drive to Italy which I do 3-4 times per year from Copenhagen.

There is also alternative to that route to Berlin coming from Norway or Sweden with the ferry from Trelleborg in Sweden to Rostock. Two of the ferries on Helsingborg-Helsingør are battery powered btw, they are super-duper charged in the port. Going via ferries Helsingborg and Rødby are 150km shorter than the bridges to Autobahnkreuz Horster Dreieck! They take same driving time though, almost to the minute, all stops for fuel and food etc was taken out. Some years back I done that test in a day from Helsingborg with GPS, just so I know :)

Just thought, wouldn't it be great if EVs could charge on board the ferries? I mean that would potentially mean you could save a charging stop, which would also save time. Any chance you can talk to (a) ferry operator(s) about that, Bjørn?

I agree to everything mentioned in this video but I would like to point out one very important thing regarding the traffic situation in Germany. The traffic between Busdorf supercharger and south of Hamburg is absolutely horrible. The closer you get to Hamburg the worse it gets and if you arrive during the rush hour at Schnelsen Nord Exit (where Ikea is located in the north of Hamburg), you will be stucked in traffic jams for hours (!) until you reach the south of Hamburg due to the fact that on this stretch of the motorway all different kinds of traffic (e.c. heavy load traffic, tourists, commuters etc) are mixed. If you want to travel to Berlin, here is my advice: don't stay on the A7 motorway but change over to the rarely unknown A21 motorway at the Neumunster Sud exit (you will have to drive some kilometers eastbund on the B205 road). At the end of the A21 Motorway you end up at the A1 (the motorway that connects Puttgarden to Hamburg) east of Hamburg and if you take the B404 Road you will arrive at the A24 motorway connecting Berlin and Hamburg.

Ferry: Rødby - Puttgarten. The price does not differentiate due to number of passengers. They just need to know the number of passengers for security reasons. I always prefer bridge due to flexibility and the high prices on the ferries, unless I can plan in advance and buy the ferry ticket two weeks in advance, then the ferry tickets are the same as the Storebælt-bridge. You can get a combo ticket for Öresund+Rødby for 110€, so #2 would only cost 220 for a round trip.

Bjørn mentioned the ferry Oslo-Kiel, witch is expensive. You also have the ferries Gothenburg-Kiel and Oslo-Copenhagen. More expensive than driving, but you arrive rested. Myself I normaly use Larvik- or Langesund-Hirtshals going out, and return over the bridges and driving the hole way. Also worth mentioning is the ferry Gothenburg-Fredrikshavn.

So factoring in kilometer cost of normal cars with no free juice, the first route seems to be the cheapest. 0,30 €/km + 200 € ferry = 590 € (return trip), the second route being the fastest and most expensive (as expected) at roughly 850 € and the other options somewhere in- between. The cheapest option might be in fact going by airplane, which starts at 150 € for a return trip.

This is a good thing to think about, and thanks for the tip on BroPass (say it in English is funny), but I think you forgot two things: First of all, I get that you talked about the main routes, but you shouldn't forget about Fjord Line from Langesund, that is about €100 for the roundtrip (if you can get the cheapest fare), and you leave at 14:30 and arrive in Hirtshals at 19:00. The boat takes a bit longer, but the arrival is not awfully late. You can hopefully get to Hamburg by midnight. Also, the land route demands more driving and wear and tear on the car. 365 km may not make up too much money of wear and tear on the car, but if you calculate based on average km life time on tires and bearings etc (which on Tesla isn't little with those fat tires), I'm sure we're talking in the tens of euros. And the calculation, as you touch a little bit upon, is mostly valid for Tesla. Extra charging for Kona etc would have to be included in the overall calculation. If I were for instance driving a Kona or Ampera-E, taking Fjord Line from Langesund seems like the obvious best and cheapest choice.

From Hamburg you can take the car train to Wien. It leaves at 19:00 and arrives 8:00. www.nightjet.com/en/ausstattung/automotorrad/in-deutschland.html It is not cheap but you can sleep in the train and during the night you travel 1000 km. Has anyone tried this already?
