How wou,d the 4PM do in a heads-up ( price, reliability, build quality, latency, sensors, telemetry. etc ) against SPEKTRUM 's DX-5PRO ?
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 2 жыл бұрын
Price - similar, Reliability - Much Better, Build Quality - Much Better, Latency - Lightening years ahead, sensors - similar, telemetry, similar. Honestly, my first radio upgrade was a DX2s....then the DX3r-Pro (back in the day). Once I got some of the Futaba's, I was blown away mostly for the latency improvement, build quality and overall reliability. I could care less about sensors and telemetry...it's cool, but I never used it

@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 5 жыл бұрын
Dylan Chadderton that’s basically False. Futaba was never owned by Hobbico....they had distribution exclusivity in the US. That’s it. The 4PV came out 3 years ago (Oct 2016 - check my video) and it retailed for $279 vs 229 on the 4PM. 😁
@dylanchadderton1
@dylanchadderton1 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCNetwork ok my fault on the Hobbico part but the 4PM is definetly a downgrade from the 4PV...that's just a fact. Now for the numbers i am going off of AMain and Futaba USA. AMain lists the 4PM for 269.99, i believe it was, at one point 289.99. I work at a hobby store so i remember pricing the item when it first came out. Either way we are splitting hairs here for 10 or 20 dollars. Bottom line is that it is essentially a lower quality/cheaper radio for the same price for all intents and purposes. It feels much more cheesy in the hand than the 4PV and the screen is factually smaller than the 4PM. I'm not saying its a bad radio, its just a lower quality version for about the same dollar amount.

What is the range distance for this radio for ripping around with a combo trail-crawler/ light basher? Well done informative video. Just worried the lower power (3 compared to 4 AA batteries) will give less distance range resulting in an unwanted runaway. Keep up the great and helpful videos. They are greatly appreciated as I am researching new RC equipment from scratch. I have nothing now and wish to purchase quality so I only have to buy once and not have to spend extra $$$ to make it work the way I want and not suck the bank dry and not repair or upgrade all the time. Thank you

Great minds think alike! I too would rather spend my money on calculated purchases vs. wasting money on poorly designed products - which is why I started the channel. My first $80 I spent at my local shop was a set of Integy piggyback shocks for the Traxxas Slash 4x4 (over 10 years ago now) . What a terrible example of shocks! As for the range - I haven't used the 4PM yet - literally filmed this last night. I can say that Futaba makes great stuff, and from my 3PV to my 7PX, the range is never an issue like (Spektrum😬) others. I've used my 4PV for my bashers, and literally I can barely see the thing and it's still connected!

@@TheRCNetwork Thank you and keep me posted on how it does with the range. I had a Futaba before and only drove my car at races. It would glitch bad at the far corners. It had a problem right from square one. After the summer season of races was over some of us got together to run in a big factory parking lot. It got about 40 feet from me and flat out did a run away!all the way to the other end of the parking lot and under the locked fences of the frozen nitrogen and Oxygen containers for the factory. Luckily it didn't break and it got back under control of the radio again when I got close to it. It stopped face first into the cement pad for the 30' tall tanks. We saw it flip wildly after it went in but still landing on wheels and full throttle into the pad where it burned and smoked the tires down till I got close enough. Sure glad the smoke was from the tires. The local hobby shop sent it back. Futaba was in contact with the hobby shop about it. Months later the shop finally got a response asking if the radio was shipped back because they couldn't find it. We said no and a few months later Futaba gave up looking for it and sent a new one. It was almost a year after. We had our first child in the meantime so I never put the new receiver in and never ran an RC since. 30 years later and disabled I would like to start back into the hobby I enjoyed to try and have some fun with what remaining life I have. That's why it's important to me to get quality on a budget that I can enjoy and no money pits. Thanks for your great reviews!

Hey David - the radios now are pretty fool proof, as far as interference. I've ran all the brands and have stuck with Futaba now. Initially I was sold on Spektrum, till I had range issues and other receiver bound issues. Then Sanwa was the ticket until I saw how much receivers were - $70-$120 each. Futaba was the sweet spot of nearly zero latency, range and affordable receivers - as I use them in all my RC's. I use the 7PX for racing, the 4PV for my bashers and the 4PM will be for my crawlers.
@davidreed3724
@davidreed3724 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCNetwork Futaba was #1 when I got it. I only used it at races, I never "played" with it at all. I took 6 months deciding on what to buy from radio to car. It was calculated for speed, durability, and to ultimately play with it at home when not being used for racing. I chose the Kyosho Turbo Ultima 2wd buggy. No upgrades needed. I knew it wasn't a road car but the RC club at the time was talking about making 2 dirt tracks and I could use it in my back yard where I couldn't use a road car at all. I am glad I got that car as it still did very good on the parking lots as where I live the freezing snowy winters make them rough and the buggy breezed over them better than a lot of road cars could. I'm now disabled and would really like to get a hobby that I can still physically try to do that brings joy to my life. I enjoyed building the buggy kit and would like another kit. I'm leaning towards bashing and some trail crawling. I really would like to have some fun with what life I have remaining. I have been watching the huge following of the XMaxx. Sadly it is just to big and heavy for me to carry if it breaks with my disability. I'm interested in what I've been seeing on the Tekno MT410 1/10 scale truck. I'm not planning on heavy bashing but would like to do some jumps and I have some steep Hills at my house that could have some obstacles put on for some light not serious crawling. I can't walk well of any distance so I think I could have some fun at home with the hills I have for jumping and some non serious crawling. Do you have any suggestions and do you know if Kyosho makes a comparable MT410? Your help would be helpful. I'm picky about my equipment and believe that quality can cost less in the long run over quantity with much needed upgrades and the high expenses involved. I also would prefer a kit so I know how to work on it and it gives me something to do this winter. I'm not able to get around most days so it's not going to be a 1 day job for me but I do want the satisfaction when completed. Sorry so long but I really liked your review and value your opinion

I got the 4PV from AMain on "special". Didn't know the 4PV was being discontinued, and can't get any support from futaba!🤬 Great radio, but guess futaba bumped it for this model, which is not nearly as powerful. Got 40 model memory ssr, and a larger screen, so not disappointed with the radio itself, just the lack of support or resources.
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 5 жыл бұрын
Regardless of being discontinued, the 4PV should still be under Futaba's warranty - and pretty affordable repair (if out of warranty) . I had my wheel fixed on my 4PX a while back, and it was way out of warranty - they charged me $49 to repair/replace some parts.

I have the 4PV, and don't see anything on the 4PM worth upgrading for. The menu's "almost" identical, the 4PV has bigger screen, and while "on paper" the SR seems nice, but in reality, not many will ever notice the difference. Its the elitist mentality...its new, it must be better. What they are doing is called "planned obsolescence". They can't make any money if you keep the same radio for a long time. They FORCE you to upgrade to keep the cash flow going. Same with most anything you buy today. Or course, this is just my opinion. Everyone will look at this differently. Some of the options are switched around, but watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4qToWOVr9mIpMU and see for yourself.

@@Nitro4x4 There is a difference with the SR - I use it on the 7PX with my race buggies. It takes more expensive receivers, but there is a difference. I think I pointed out the main differences on the 4PV vs. the 4PM - but one thing I left out was the price difference - $279 on the 4PV vs $229 on the 4PM - that's $50 Even the SR equiped 4PM (I found that after the video) is $269, which is still less than the 4PV. Also, checking the link you left is handy...I posted the 4PV release in October 2016 - exactly 3 years ago. I think that's a healthy time period for a replacement model like the 4PM

The truck will be a fresh build Tekno RC 410.3 SCT using hobby wing power system (XeRun xr8 plus and 3660 g2 3200kv in a full sensored setup), a high end Savox Servo, and a few other mods (metal diff cases, chassis braces, badlands tires, and full option shocks)... using it both for racing on weekends and bashing... but mostly bashing... The RCNetwork and how about adding in the Protek RC 170SBL for a steering servo? Of course I will use a quality aluminum Servo horn as I wonder which one to use... a short or long one as Protek RC has long and short Servo horn versions in several colors... and for the 4pm just the futaba 304SB would be all I want as I prefer the antenna over an antenna less design... less worries about interference in what would be such a high powered model for me... a video on driving tips and whatnot from using brushed systems converting to brushless systems would be a great for everyone to learn from too

I have an Spektrum DX5 Pro, with 5 channels, 5.5ms frame rate, 3 position switch and a POT, 250 models memory, SD card and for the same price!
@TheRCNetwork

But it is a Spektrum....😉 Last Spektrum I ran was the DX3rPro, which was the be all end all for Spektrum in the day - nearly $350 at the time and I tested a MT4 from Sanwa ($199) and it blew the Spektrum away. Futaba is similar with latency but more affordable receivers over Sanwa

The Spektrum quality just isn't on par with Futaba and Sanwa.

How is the battery life
@TheRCNetwork
@TheRCNetwork 5 жыл бұрын
I haven't had it long enough to test, but it seems like most things these days, Futaba has made the electronics efficient enough to run off of lower voltage and keep the run time
@SnarkyRC

It chews through AA batteries. If you use a LiFe pack it lasts forever.

Sanwa MT44 or Futaba 4PM??? Wich one you guys preffer?
@TheRCNetwork

Tough one - Both great remotes. The interface of menus are better on the Futaba and the receivers are also cheaper on Futaba.....which is why I switched. Performance wise, they're very close

4pm was a let down compared to the 4pv. One of my friends bought the 4pm, and I was completely disappointed.

What specifically were you disappointed with about the 4PM?
@jaimesonritter3375
@jaimesonritter3375 5 жыл бұрын
@@edge1324 the fact you couldn't add a drop down to the wheel, and just the overall feel. The 4pm feels real cheap in the hand. Almost like you.might break it. The 4pv feels more heavy duty and luxury

Yup you are correct, 4PV is a solid level higher than the 4PM.

Ebutuoy gosh, I hope you didn’t come here for the music 😬. Keep in mind, KZbin only allows non-copyright music. As much as I’d love to have some Metallica or IceCube on my videos, it would get flagged and potentially the channel would get demonetized and shut down for too many copyright strikes.
