Love how tip #1 is buy affordable and then the suggestions are all top of the line shoes. Unless you meant affordable in the sense that they're not super trainers that cost €250+, there is no way most of these shoes for €160+ are particularly affordable
@RunningXpert6 ай бұрын
Hey Sitasin6545, We totally understand your thoughts about the matter. But there are reasons why we did this. First, let's run through the prices. Cumulus is at about 100-140€ right now, depending on the model you take. The Ride 17 and the Supernova Rise are both at 150€ and 155€. The Clifton 9 is at 130-150€ right now and the same with the Cloudsurfer. All prices are taken from our runningxpert.com German site. So 165€+ is not necessarily right, but we get your point. Now to the reason why: This is the pricing spot where you see fewer takedowns and compromises on quality. In general, but not related to all shoes, cheaper versions often use inferior foams, inferior materials in the upper, and worse rubber on the outsole, which usually makes the shoe last shorter. Making the purchase less affordable in the end. You also typically get a less enjoyable running experience, making running much less fun. I would much rather say that someone should buy an older pair of a pricier model than use the same money on a cheaper new shoe. This is of course not true regarding all cheaper shoes, but in general, it holds up really well. So that was just our reasons behind it. Hope you are having a great day. Lars

Great choices. Nike didn’t make the list because the ones you guys picked are rightly better in terms of price comfort and versatility for beginners.

Nike has some great shoes. Pegasus would be a shoe that would fit in this category if you ask me. But their other daily trainers are a bit heavier and more cushioned than the shoes we wanted to highlight in this video. Lars

Very informative video... I'm from South Africa and not one of these shoes cost less the R2000 South African rands which is quite a bit of money here. Are there any other shoes you can recommend that's cost less but are good for the road
@RunningXpert9 ай бұрын
Hey. I don't know what the conversions will be to South Africa, but I will try. Normally we set our sights on shoes that are in the top of the market, because the shoes that are further dwon in price usually has some bigger drawbacks. Here are some shoes though that might be great, but that still can be found cheaper. adidas Adizero SL (lightweight daily trainer, a bit firm, but gets better over time) Nike Pegasus (a great starter shoes) Hoka Rincon (a very light deily trainer) If you find an older New Balance 1080 (v10-v12) they are also good for beginners. The new V13 is very soft and a bit more max cushioned, Hope this helps. Lars

@@RunningXpert thanks for the reply... Appreciate the really in detail reply not many channels will do that. I will have a look and get back to you. I ran my second ever half marathon 1 hour:37 min this weekends using a south african brand shoe from MR PRICE sport. And as someone that's not permanently employed that really loves to run it needs to be on a budget especially from a shoe perspective. But with price the shoe also needs to perform which doesn't always relate to when u buy cheaper shoes

Training for my first half marathon in March. Training with Hoka Clifton 8s. Looking for another pair to rotate but also use on actual marathon day. Should I go with a carbon fiber plate shoe or not yet?
@RunningXpert9 ай бұрын
Hey JoyConDriftKing! Cool name! It depends. If I was only thinking about speed I would buy one of the fastest carbon racers on the market and stick with that, but if you are considering having a shoe that can be used for both training and racing I would suggest you go for a lower price, higher value option. This could be something like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, Hoka Mack X, New Balance Super Comp Trainer v2, Puma Deviate Nitro 2. These are great options that could both be used in training and races. And you can find them all on Runingxpert.com :D Lars

@RunningXpertАй бұрын
Hey. Hoka make great shoes. A great place to start when trying Hoka shoes are the Clifton 9. They are nicely cushioned and has a neutral stability. If you're knees hurt, it is important to workout in the gym and limit the distance you are running, as this has a much bigger impact than having a certain pait of running shoes. The cliftons give creat cushion and is a great place to start. Lars

Not runner but starting to walk 10k steps a day. I bought running shoes from Nike and my knees and heel hurts so bad even after 1 month walking. Any suggestions? I know this a dumb questions but is it ok to use running shoes for walking 10k steps a day or there’s specific shoes for walking?
@mijito_osito2 ай бұрын
Yeah if your going to walk you should use trainers for that, you are suing running shoes meant for running not walking 👟
@okgoogle3232 ай бұрын
@@mijito_osito thank you
@RunningXpertАй бұрын
Hey. You can of course use running shoes for walking, but the higher cushion is different from the firmer sensation you often have in sneakers and sometimes it takes some getting used to. Your injury probably has more to do overload, and not because you are using a running shoe. Sometimes you just need time to adjust to a new shoe. Running shoes are made to be as breathable and light as possible, this means using less durable fabrics that a lighter and breath better. Walking shoes are usually used for more hours during the day and need to be able to handle more stress, this means more durable fabrics that might be less breathable. Hope this helps. Lars

Check out the drop of the shoe. I have back issues and have noticed that shoes with a larger drop (8-10) tend to cause me more discomfort/
@RunningXpert3 күн бұрын
@@mikeshaw4610 Drop is always important, as it slightly changes loads on your body. But do remember that you can also diversify to make your body more versatile by having different shoes with different drops. Sticking with the one thing that works can be a disservice in the long run. Lars

Find a trainer that you find comfortable and start very slowly. A traditional daily trainer should be great. Here are a few options. The most important thing is that you find them comfortable. NB 1080v13 Nimbus 26 Triumph 20 Clifton 9 Bondi Getting back is all about giving your knees a LOT of time to strengthen. If it's necessary, then walk in the beginning, or just run shorter parts of your run. Keep the distance low in the beginning and do not increase a lot from week to week. Find a certain distance that your body can withstand and keep it for a couple of months, before you increase slightly and do the same again. It's a long game and not something that should be rushed. Hope this helps, you are welcome to ask more questions. Lars

What abut Nike Pegasus Zoom 40 and Brooks Adrenaline and New Balance Rebel Fuel cell?
@RunningXpert5 ай бұрын
Hey. Pegasus 40 is a great option. The adrenaline is a stability shoe, and we are focusing on neutral running shoes in this video, but the ghost would be a great possibility as well. When it comes to New Balance Rebel we consider it a n extremely light shoe, and light shoes usually suffer when it comes to durability compared to heavier shoes. So if you want a New Balance Shoe for the beginner I would rather try the 880. But in general, there are many great beginner shoes out there. These are just five shoes that differ a bit from each other, to give a variety of choice for the beginner runner. Lars

Hoka EVA is not good for heavy runners that don't want to buy new shoes all the time.
@RunningXpert9 ай бұрын
It's right that EVA isn't as durable as TPU for instance, but remember that EVA is still EVA, so if it's Hoka that makes it, or any other company, it's still going to have very similar durability, regardless of brand. If you want durability you should search for TPU based foams, one example could be the PWRRUN+ foams that Saucony offers.
@isteingrgaard15799 ай бұрын
Adidas and Nike is for me a "no no no". Saucony sizing is like a lottery.
