Try white vinegar m8 it works a treat then when the rusts off and took out the vineger drop them in a glass of water with bicarb of soda in or drop them in a glass of cola to stop them flash rusting, it's good cos it's not toxic and super cheap
@m1cxf4 жыл бұрын
Can I suggest that when mixing substances always put the water in first and add the active substance to it. That way you avoid a sudden amount of toxic fumes. Don't want you to come a cropper.

My dad always told me to use a bit of 'elbow grease' can't seem to find it in the shops. He says it's normally on the shelf with 'a round 2it' but I never seem to have the time to look, maybe one day 🤔

Was fishing just below the Boat and Horses pub just next to Costco, if you fish from the pub and go underneath the bridge there is an absolute shed load of scrap metal, bikes, cones, traffic signs etc, should give it a look if you haven't already mate 👌

One thing you may not have considered - the evaporust at least does something most of the others don't - it turns some of the rust back into metal by removing the oxygen from it - breaking the rust up. Also, since it works this way you can leave items in evapo-rust for as long as you like - it won't over-dissolve anything because it doesn't act on the metal, it just acts on rust... no rust, nothing happens. I leave stuff in evapo-rust for weeks... forget it, check it later. It does a great job, but you have to immediately oil or paint to avoid flash rust. You can actually get some similar results with molasses and water in a 1:9 mix, but you have to take care to avoid mold growth and a bad stink.

Used black treacle ( molasses) on a rust seized motor and worked really well in time

A lot of neat ways to clean off rust. Fot the Coca-Cola, it has to be Classic Coca-cola. None of the others have the same recipe. We use Classic to clean the grease spots off of the driveway. The one that you can reuse sounds great but the hammerite looks really good. Of course the electrical will be the best. Thank you for sharing :-)

Is this a re-upload? I'm sure I've seen a very similar video before & I remember you saying about the battery charger blowing up! Harpic toilet cleaner, ( the X 10 one in the black bottle ) works best, I've not used it on metal but I have used it to remove rust stains from old bottles I've dug up. On another note, brown sauce is good for cleaning brass & copper items without discolouring the metal.

Nice video, I usually use cheap white vinegar and sometimes citric acid. Also it is a very good idea to wire brush to knock the rough and loose rust off and a quick clean/wipe with break cleaner or petrol or any other degreaser, then submerge in to white vinegar or citric acid. After using the vinegar and acid method, you mustn't forget to clean the item with soapy water or water and bicarbonate of soda to naturalise the acid.
