I wish they’d flip the air dump, or have one more variant . In our ‘16 Outback 324CG, the main AC is at the very front of the living room and this would essentially dump right at the front wall/entertainment center. I’m sure the air would eventually find its way back to the rest of the 30’ or so, but when towing and landing when it’s 100f, we want our rig cooling down as much as possible.

It would be great to see RV companies transition the thermostats to a 24v to allow the use of a smart home thermostat.

Are they going to have one that doesn’t need a stupid remote and can work with the RV thermostat/automated systems? This is something that is HUGE… we aren’t going with less integration…. I would jump on it if it would connect to my existing wiring and my max air easy touch.. otherwise I guess I’ll have to wait until one of the other brands makes one 🤷‍♂️

Agree. I have the Jayco BMPRO system and not having the integration with the rest of the system is a deal-breaker.

JD just like a mini split or the more expensive house type ac units the inside fan might run all the time but they are full of electronics. Just make sure you have a good surge protector that shuts off the power in case of voltage spikes or low voltage. I'd love to have that new type on my motor home when they come out also my AC is ducted .

To say that this is a game changer may be an understatement. I am really excited to see where this is going to lead us. I think Furrion just put all the other RV A/C manufacturers on notice. I have installed hundreds of mini split units over the years and I can vouch for the fact that the majority run without any problems as long as you keep them clean and maintained. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I haven't seen an RV ac unit that has brushes, the problem with Coleman ac unit is the bearings go out because they are not sealed bearings, even though it only cost 10 dollars to fix it still cheaper than a new motor. I wish they were like the old dometic you could add oil to the bearings on the blower motor, I had one that was still running after 25 years

TY for this - question, so I'm understanding that the "ducted" units will support replacement in a TT/RV that already was configured with a ducted AC system? If so, that's fantastic and likely an investment that I would make for mine. We have issues at our normal park with line voltage and something that is quieter and draws less power would be SO much more desirable.

I replaced my 13,500 bedroom ac 4 years ago and have had the fan running 24/7 since to both cool and help warm the camper. Havent had any issues with it or even any squeeling or weird noises

Like one person already mentioned, the problem with keeping the fan running, even on very low speeds, is when the compressor kicks off and the fan continues to run, the fan starts kicking the condensation on the evaporator coils back into the RV, making it feel unpleasant, and making the air feel and smell swampy. For me, that is a deal breaker...

We picked up a new ember 170 mrb that has the truma AC in it. Can't stand it! The fan runs continuous when the compressor kicks off and you should see what the humidity level does. There's 20% swings between the cycles of the compressor. I'm in West Tennessee and have humidity like you guys in Texas. My alliance fifth wheel has the Coleman AC's and these blowers shut off with the compressor. Humidity level will drop down to 42 in the alliance and stay there. It is very uncomfortable in the Ember with it swinging between 50 and 70 I would love to see you run a test on the humidity level with that unit running continuously vs. your standard AC in the front of your RV.

Great Videos, definitely interested in the new set up. on the old unit before I moved the temp probe it was helpful to have it pulled through the filter and dangling down. It got a more accurate reading of the trailer temp. It still did cycle but not as frequently as if it was up in the unit. And I did have to run the fan on low anyway because the temp swing would be very stuffy if left in auto. It didn’t fully function like a house a/c until I moved the probe with an extension to the wall by the thermostat. I may be looking at the new unit if I ever add to the front with the prewired place for it.

I'm definitely interested and looking forward to the Heat Pump ducted version. I'm also really interested for the consumption numbers so I can see how much energy it's using compared to the standard AC's. Do you know when you'll work on that?

On my fifth wheel we have three Coleman low profile 15k units . Our thermostat controls all three with the ability to set each zone separately. Zone one the sensor is at the thermostat. The other two zones have there own sensor . All the units share the same duct system. Works very well . One added note being in maintenance for years I have seen the fan motor you described make a loud jet engine whine over time . I’m sure it’s due to running non stop.

The other good thing with the fan moving air is it will help cut down on bacteria growth in the evaporator

I don't use the thermostat on the unit with mine. I always set it to follow me where it uses the temperature from the remote. I keep the remote near the sofa or kitchen table.

In another video you did with the Furrion folks they mentioned a lower profile unit, 8K, for up in a bedroom area. Was there any mention from them of those coming out anytime soon? The reason I ask is we have a Brinkley with the 18K and it does a fantastic job with very little energy pull. However the bedroom AC is 13.5 but low profile for clearance.

I had 2 colman mach 15s on my 2019 columbus 389fl 1492 and they sucked at cooling and ran constantly. I installed 2 15500 furrion chill a/c and it's like nite and day. These even cycle on and off in 100 deg weather. My electric bill dropped massively

I’ve replace the “ brushless variable speed motor” on my mini split 3 times. And we live in the north west and they don’t run consistently. so I feel like that’s a false premise I would rather have it shut off and sense temperature somewhere else in the rv.

I’m also here in Texas and started leaving my RV AC on in the summer months to help with humidity. What temperature are you setting yours to? I have mine at 87 just to help with electricity bill.

So how is the air temp in the back of the RV since the air only flows forward? Also, with a variable speed unit, the fan may be running, but the unit has dropped the compressor into a lower usage and therefor saving energy. So by constantly running, it's overall being more efficient.

Based on the below comment from@TRtribal….could it support a 35 ft unit with no slides, but using an added duct to cover the bed/bath area (separated from the front area with a door), with the actual unit being, maybe, placed centered in the living/dining/kitchen area? (Actually this application would be for a Skoolie vehicle with its roof raised 18 inches, and the unit placed in what once was the overhead squared emergency exit.) And it would be nice if the heating unit could be ducted to the main so that the continuous fan operation might also be used to distribute heat…..or am I asking too much!?

Even though they said that the fan need to stay on for the thermostat.... I still prefer the ac to completely shut off when it reaches the set temperature. I hate hearing my bedroom ac constantly running similarly to your new AC.

Odd that their engineered conclusion to having a remote temperature probe (e.g. thermostat) is continuously circulating air. Adding a soft start/run capability to one unit on thier product roadmap instead of making it a factory standard on all???

Just because it's brushless doesn't mean it's going to last forever, or even a long time. It's going to come down to what type of bearings are being used. Oiled bronze, fluid dynamic, magnetic, sleeve.

0.5 amps at 120V is not nothing. 60 watts of continuous draw can be a problem for off-grid situations. One of the main benefits of an inverter AC is low power consumption, but a continuous load of 60 watts would negate that benefit.

Agreed. That’s 720 watts over 12 hours straight (overnight) and no other draws. I personally have a decent lithium bank (about 600ah) and that would draw 10% of its capacity.

No no no.. that fan blowing will always be adding humidity into the system with a ducted system! As the fan runs without the compressor working will now heat the air in the ducts and any leaks will now depressurize the camper and in return will pull hot air and humidity from the outside! I have 20 years in air conditioning in south Florida where there’s 90% humidity.

I am not liking the fact that the fan NEVER shuts off regardless of why. I like peace and quiet in the middle of the night. I don’t want to hear the fan running the ENTIRE time even if the compressor isn’t running.

They are so quiet you don’t notice it. Also when the compressor comes on it is gradual. It is much less disturbing than the traditional AC.
