This looks like a great idea for a post-factory 2nd AC unit. You don't have to run the wires for a thermostat and it doesn't have to be ducted. Great installation video and I'm excited to see this in action in future videos. Thanks for sharing this one for us!!! Pat

Black to ground red to 12v and the heat function is just a relay so if the furance kicks on when you tie the two wires together. Then just tie them to the brown wires.. If it needs a 12v signal and ground you can wire 1 of the brown thermostat wires to 12v the other brown to the furnace trigger and the ground to the black ground wire.

I like the low noise level of that unit. 18k btu is great especially here in inland California. I’m not as thrilled about the remote as you are. It’s another remote to lose!😂. I would like to see it designed with the option of using the remote or the wall thermostat. That would solve your furnace dilemma as well. Very nice install. If it were available without the remote and just a direct swap using the thermostat I would consider it in the future. The Furrion AC on my Surveyor is a bit noisy but works better than any AC I’ve had in the past. It was 90 degrees here today. There was no issue keeping the trailer cool and it didn’t run that much!

I'm going to replace both units on our Jayco Eagle 355mbqs... it has their "whisper quiet" ducting which is actually quieter than most but not by much. I'm seriously considering abandoning the ducts for the living room unit and only using the ducts for the bedroom unit since they're all connected. That would keep 100% of the living room air in the living room and ducting from the bedroom into both the bedroom, living room, and bunk room (put a booster fan on the bunk room - massive improvement!). Anyway, I'm really looking forward to future reviews! Thanks!!

I have seen various Variable Speed Inverter AC for houses in past and with great advantage on power, generally they do not last long. Not related to RV , talked to a few mechanics and they love to replace controller boards or the unit at a full price. If used sparingly and costs the same as the older design then yes they might be the rite fit for someone.

So this unit has the air flow in the direction of the front of the RV, is this correct? I think I will be installing this on my 2016 Keystone Hideout which has one of the loudest AC units I have ever heard. No thermostat controls so it is simpler on the wiring than yours with the wall mounted thermostat control. The biggest challenge will be on and off the roof. 😊 Thank you for this video.

Ok you said you have the auxiliary cool unit. I am going to assume that it was not a heat pump and is just conventional cooling units we are wiring. You also have the heater. I suspect that the 2 wire lead goes to the heater. The second 5 or 7 wire cable may go to the auxiliary ac. The last wire set goes to the thermostat. You also had the main 12v wire red and black. First verify the 2 wire connection at the furnace I suspect one wire was ground and the other wire is positive voltage supplied from the tstat to turn on the ignition for the furnace. Very rare to have a wire that would just turn on the furnace blower motor. But worth inspection. Thermostat wires are usually red 12v positive. Black is common groundand would connect to C not G terminal. W is heat usually white wire. In cooling mode the yellow wire turns on the ac and the green wire turned on the fan. In heat mode the white wire from the Thermostat W would connect to the red wire on the 2 wire cable going to the furnace and the white wire would go to ground or C. Again verify that the heater only required power and ground. Their is a 25% chance that a blower signal was sent on the white wire to the furnace. That should provide restoration of heat on the thermostat. Now a bigger question the auxiliary ac was it tied into this tstat as well. If it was it could be tied to a different color wire coming from the tstat. Check the stat for the yellow wire. If their is a terminal block on the wall that the stat plugs into it it would be y1 is yellow to the first stage of cooling if their is a y2 what ever wire it is was likely used to😅 power the auxiliary ac. I did see in the video that a blue wire was in use. When y1 is active the first ac turns on then on a timer in the stat at a further rise in temperature the y2 would bring on the second stage of cooling. Possible the blue wire was the auxiliary cool. You can connect the auxiliary ac to y1 and the fans are controlled on the G terminal and usually have a green wire control the fan for manualair movement. NOTE Ground is marked as C as in common. Hopefully this helps. If it is a heat pump system their are other wiring senerios. 😅 and the blue wire is what changed it from heat to cool mode and depending on the heatpump it could be powered too energize the reversing valve putting it in to heat mode and the gas furnace could be a second stage or auxiliary heat.

another idea for your furnace that i think i'm going to tackle this year too, you can just install a traditional millivolt thermostat on the wall that doesn't require any jumping of 12 volt to anything. where grand design placed my t-stat in my 2600RB makes the furnace short cycle. it's literally right across from a heat duct, very annoying to have it turn off and on all night rapidly. so i want to run a wire directly up the wall and put it above the kitchen sink that has no direct heat blowing on it. also i assume they're coming out with a ducted unit?
@javabean2155 ай бұрын
I thought I heard you say that you're reusing the original control box. In that case, there's no reason to disconnect DC, 120v or heater (or thermostat for a remote thermostat unit); just leave them all wired and let the control box dangle. You only need to disconnect the rooftop connector from the control box. That saves several steps, and minimizes the possibility of screwing up wiring. Of course, if you're using a new control box, then you do have to disconnect all of that. For the wall thermostat and heater.....take +12VDC in the overheard, wire it to red to thermostat. Blue from the thermostat should go to -12VDC (aka, "ground"). White from the thermostat will go to one leg of the heater; and the other leg will be tied to -12VDC/ground with the blue t-stat wire. So red and blue send 12VDC to the t-stat. When the t-stat calls for heat it sends 12VDC down the white leg to the furnace. Some furnaces are sensitive to polarity, so you may have to reverse which furnace lead goes to white from the t-stat and which goes to -12VDC/ground.

My question: is it worth all the trouble of buying one and having to replace it? How much more efficient is it? Can it actually cool your trailer? We have a 2023 flagstaff 832bws and it has two ACs and we cannot run our acs in the summer because our bill will be $500 a month and they wouldn’t even cool the trailer down. We have to run. Big old swamp cooler that so loud. I guess I’m saying I don’t want to get hyped about the product and go buy 2 to replace our Coleman machs and it not even make that much of a difference
