Thanks Rick, looks like the prices for the Garmin GPSMAP 67i are the same at all of the retailers you listed. Free shipping with Amazon Prime is a plus. REI membership (which I'm a member) has a point program for discounted prices. Don't know much about Scheels.

I would love to help. There are several great satellite communicators, such as Garmin, SPOT, ACR, and Motorola. Some of these require you to sync to your smartphone to get most of the features. Personally I don't like these as much because you will lose most of the abilities of the device if you have technical issues between the communicator and your phone. Here's my personal preferences. Garmin GPSMAP 67i if you want an all-in-one device that you never have to sync with your smartphone. I just created a new review of it today and you can see more about it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goO2mpawi6d7qc0 Garmin inReach Mini 2 if you like a small device that has a lot of features you can use without it being synced with your smartphone, but then it has most of the features that the 67i has when it is synced. The ACR Bivy Stick is a great satellite communicator but you must have it synced with your smartphone. The Garmin Messenger is a great communicator if the SOS and 2-way messaging is all you need. As you can already see, there are many ways to head on these but without knowing more about your situation and what is important to you, I would recommend the Garmin GPSMAP 67i and the Garmin inReach Mini 2.
