So I'm totally new to everything. Is a memory card the same thing as a SD card? Or are they the same?

Yes SD card is a type of memory card. There is SD, micro SD, CFexpress Type A....etc. This is for normal SD cards with various speeds. What camera did you get?

All I ever used on my Sony cameras were the San disc extreme 128g cards. Now with the a7siii things have changed and I’m going with prograde or Sony tough cards.

Yep for the a7siii for V60 cards I would get the Sony Tough M V60 and then it you need a V90 card I would say Prograde V90.

SanDisk is hard to beat! When I had the ZV-1 and A6100 those were the only cards I used.

If you are using one of the cameras list d (A7c, a7iii, zv-1, zv-e10) all recording modes work great. If you are using an a7siii, A7iv, A7RIV I wouldn’t get any cards slower than a V60.

Why not the Lexar v60 cards? They are faster, so more future proof... And quite inexpensive

I haven't heard of good luck with the full Lexar cards from other creator friends. Plus I have no experience with them. I do not want to recommend something I haven't personally used.

I’ve seen lot of people talk about Sandisk extreme pro sdxc UHS-1 170 mb/s card and none regarding 200 mb/s card, is there any specific reason?

Wasn't out when I did this video. When I first got the card it was a 95mb/s card. It cracked and sandisk replaced it with the 170mb/s because the 170mb/s was the lowest they produced. I think they just recently changed to 200mb/s.

SanDisk 128GB Extreme Pro 170 MB/s UHS-I SDXC can shoot 4k stably on A7c? I doubt it needs all that bit rate but the sony says it only supports UHS-II

Oh its flawless on that card. The Sony a7C supports a maximum of 100Mbps 4k video which is around 12.5 MB/s. This means that you really don't need to buy the fastest memory cards for 4k video recording. The camera supports up to UHS-II card, but that just helps to buffer photo shots when you are shooting bursts. Hope this helps!
